Congrats to Bill Cleyndert & Company for increasing their PRIME score to 18! 🎉 Here’s a look at the impactful steps they’ve taken: 🌱 Being Environmentally Better: In 2024, Bill Cleyndert & Company generated 348 megawatt hours of energy via wood waste to heat their workshop in place of sending it to a landfill.  💡 Embracing Sustainable Innovation: Since 2022, continued investment in design technology has reduced excess wastage of material from the point of order through to manufacture.  🔈 Spreading the Word: Introduced sustainability classification on sample labels. Since its introduction, over 1000 samples of this labelling have been released, raising awareness of sustainability considerations. 🌎 Delivering Impact: Through their apprenticeship program, Bill Cleyndert & Company have supported 14 Apprentices since 2021, with 4 of them have now qualified as Junior Cabinet Makers—empowering the next generation! 🤝 Making a Difference: In just two years, Bill Cleyndert & Company has donated nearly £11,000 to charitable causes, their local community and sports teams. 📈 Being Accountable: Bill Cleyndert & Company have assisted two clients with sustainable sample sections within their own libraries. Congratulations, Ideaworks, on achieving a PRIME Score of 19! 🎉 Let's delve into the initiatives that have propelled them forward: 🌎 Being Environmentally Better: UK operations are now zero to landfill with all non-recyclable waste diverted to energy production. 👕 Embracing Sustainable Innovation: All Kent sites have moved to renewable energy providers. Combined with an employee EV scheme – this has resulted in approximately 126,000 miles travelled using renewable energy. 🏆 Spreading the Word: Ideaworks is committing to sharing ideas and progress both internally and externally. 🍽️ Delivering Impact: Their work with lighting suppliers has helped move the percentage of suppliers that use TM65 and TM66 (sustainability standards) from 18% in 2023 to 57% in 2024. 📦 Making a Difference: By joining Together For Cinema – a community interest company that installs cinemas that benefit children and young adults, they continue to make a difference. 🤝 Being Accountable: As founder members of PRIME, Ideaworks continues to hold itself to account by publishing its performance every year. PRIME Workshop: Sustainable Material Choices in Design 🌱 ♻️ Subject-matter experts from PRIME Members met recently in London to discuss sustainability in material selection when designing bespoke interiors and furniture and more generally in the construction of super-prime residential properties in the UK. We were joined by representatives from Ideaworks, Weldon Flooring, Silverlining Furniture, LA London, and Winch Design to discuss how it is they are embracing sustainability in their organisations and, in particular, about choosing ‘sustainable’ materials and putting sustainable alternatives forward for consideration. ✅ Defining Sustainability: The discussion revealed that sustainability encompasses environmental, social, and commercial factors. While UN Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework, assessing materials against these criteria remains complex and time-consuming. A key insight was the need to balance transportation impact with production sustainability—a local material may not always be the greener choice. ✅ Innovations and Alternatives: Participants showcased materials like leather made from leaves, cactus, and pineapple, alongside modular products designed for reuse. Trade shows and sample libraries were highlighted as vital resources, with a shift away from unsustainable choices like shagreen. ✅ Testing and Marketing: Testing sustainable alternatives for durability and compatibility is critical before implementation. Internally, success stories and CPD sessions help organisations share knowledge and align teams. For clients, storytelling that emphasises craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation were proven to drive engagement with sustainable options. 🖇️ Conclusion: The path to sustainability requires more than new materials—it’s about rethinking practices and priorities. From using narrower oak planks to mixing sustainable and traditional materials in cabinetry, incremental changes can lead to meaningful impacts. Embracing sustainability is a collective effort, requiring collaboration across teams, clients, and supply chains. Congrats to CC Construction Group on rescoring with a PRIME Score of 15! 🎉 Here’s a look at some of the initiatives that helped them reach this milestone: 🌍 Being Environmentally Better: By digitising the signing in and out of operatives from sites they are saving thousands of sheets of paper every year. 👕 Embracing Sustainable Innovation: Through their participation in Ecologi | B Corp™ they have planted nearly 500 trees this year. 🏆 Spreading the Word: By introducing PRIME into their requests for proposals they are raising awareness and stimulating conversations about doing better business. 🍽️ Delivering Impact: CC Construction Group continue to raise funds for charities. This year through their annual charity football match and London to Brighton Cycle ride. 📦 Making a Difference: Their commitment to the development of the next generation of craftspeople continues through their apprentice scheme. 🤝 Being Accountable: They hold themselves to account by publicly posting their carbon emission reductions.
