This week, Rt Hon Steve Reed OBE MP opened the conversation on a Land Use Framework. Wilder Carbon’s mission is to restore UK nature on a massive scale for nature, climate and people, enabling high-integrity nature markets that restore and protect dynamic, biodiverse ecosystems. The Land Use Framework is a major opportunity to drive a nationally coordinated approach to land management, which could ensure nature-based solutions are integrated into climate, biodiversity, and economic planning. We will be responding to the consultation with a call for minimum intervention approaches to land-use change management to be incorporated into this plan to reinstate natural processes, assuring maximum benefits and climate resilience. The climate and nature crises are the most urgent challenges of our time. Fight the crises by investing in nature.
About us
Wilder Carbon is developing as the mechanism for locking up additional carbon through restoration of native habitat via reinstatement of natural processes. We aim to: Become the benchmark for native habitat restoration projects that address the Nature and Climate Crisis at the same time. Fill a void for multi-habitat schemes where using multiple habitat codes would be over-complex. Be applicable at all scales from national to regional; from Local Authority landholdings to farms, rewilding projects, protected areas, and urban greenspace. Change the landscape of green investment and leverage financing to restore nature at a previously impossible scale in a truly defensible manner.

Amongst a flurry of Government announcements, Wilder Carbon were pleased to see yesterday's release of the UK's Nationally Determined Contribution aligning to advice from the Climate Change Committee. We are encouraged by the commitment to ambition, leadership and organisation to realise this, notably that: UK is re-establishing itself as a climate leader on the global stage, committing to an ambitious and credible NDC target to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions by at least 81% by 2035, with a commitment to transition away from fossil fuels, and A clear acknowledgement of the role of nature, with a nod to 30 by 30 targets, and endorsement of the COP28 joint statement on Climate, Nature and People, to bring the Paris Agreement and Global Biodiversity Framework closer together, supported by a commitment of £3bn in nature climate finance. This supported by a commitment to ensure synergy and coordination on these through, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) working together, with other departments, to jointly develop and deliver the government’s international and domestic priorities across climate, nature and energy. Wilder Carbon are ready to deliver this ambition in earnest. #natureandclimate #naturalclimatesolutions Read in full here:
