About us
Winhurst Recruitment is Jo Richardson, an Independent Recruiter. With 10 years experience working in Food Manufacturing and as many years experience working in recruitment, people are at the heart of every business and they will always be at the heart of the recruitment process, this is something that I pride myself on. Starting off recruiting solely in Food Manufacturing it became apparent that recruitment is recruitment, as long as you understand the client and understand your candidates, the sector or industry, simply doesn't matter when it comes to recruitment, what matters are people. So whilst food is what I love and is my DNA, this has opened up a whole new world of recruitment which I absolutely love. And if I'm asking candidates to be brave and look at new opportunities, it is only right and fair that I am brave to and I have LOVED stepping out of my comfort zone.

Winhurst Recruitment is an Independent FMCG Recruiter & Coach, it is one person trying to help people find their perfect job, 1 job at a time. And the person behind the keyboard is Jo Richardson ACC ⭐️⭐️⭐️, that's me. And here is my latest chit chat. Twice this week I've been called "An Industry Expert" in reference to the Food Manufacturing Industry. And the 24 year old inside me still sniggers. Because I still feel 24 years old. And how can I be an industry expert with just a few years experience? (ok maybe the back doesn't feel 24 years old any more!) And as my littlest niece reminds me "But Auntie Jo, you've been 24 for a REALLY long time!". Yes I have Ellen, yes I have. So what makes someone an expert? Some times it is perception but I'm going to step outside of my 24 year old self, and leave Spiky Jo to chunter to herself (as we all know Spiky Jo wouldn't be happy with the "expert" label!) and look at the facts, in a slightly bashful kind of way. 🚦 Started working in Production Planning in a Pea Factory in 1995 🚦 Started working in Recruitment in 1998 in London. 🚦 Started working in the Wine Industry in 2002 as a National Account Executive. 🚦 Starting working in Chilled Own Label Food Manufacturing in 2004 as a National Account Manager and then Commercial Manager 🚦 Started recruiting Procurement & Supply Chain roles in the FMCG market in 2011 🚦 Set up my own company recruiting into the Food & Drinks Industry in 2014 🚦 I diversified and started working with non foodies in 2018 🚦 I became an ACC Accredited Coach with the International Coaching Federation in 2021 and have been working with some fab Clients since. 🚦 I started doing some Freelance Internal Talent Acquisition for a well known Global Chocolate Manufacturer in 2022 and I LOVE this work, I LOVE the people and I have to admit, I LOVE the products. (especially the Excellence dark chocolate with Raspberry, it's healthy right? 😉) So what next? I have a few things up my sleeve but the food, oh the food. That is absolutely what I love and what I know. So if are about to start recruiting and you are filled with dread as to what will happen, please just give me a call. I'm not quite the FairyJobMother of Recruitment but I do know my stuff. And it's taken me a long time to acknowledge that. But I can assure, I can instantly help with your recruitment pains.

Fascinating article here about Recruiting into the food industry. Having worked for a company where there has been a massive restructure with a lot of key people leaving the business, the skill shortage was manageable, the impact of the lack of product and process knowledge was immense and took us MONTHS to recover. Never underestimate the true impact of change in food manufacturing, no matter at what level. Niche roles and key people bring with them so much more than you realise. And team work is invaluable in ensuring that skills are taught to others. #foodindustry #foodmanufacturing

I expect this week to be quieter on LinkedIn due to the hols but I’m intrigued to hear from people who have been looking for a new job in recent months. What has the last week meant for your job search? 🙈🙉🙊

The experts say never post twice in a day on hashtag #LinkedIn but I just had to share this. I'm not sure what my views are on this yet, I can see both sides but I think the more I think (can you tell it's Friday afternoon!) I don't think the EXACT questions should be shared. I think there could be an indication on the types of questions if anything but life isn't about knowing everything in advance. Life is about thinking on your feet at times, being prepared when and wherever you can be but we can't AND don't need to know everything all the time? And surely the interviewer, it is their responsibility to make the candidate relaxed and get the best out of them? 🙂 Sometimes you see the true essence of a person from the way they speak to the receptionist while waiting for the interview. ☕ Sometimes you see their drive & determination by the way they open up when they're relaxing chatting about what they're doing at the weekend. ☀ 🏊♂️ 🍰 🍷 Or if they elude to something in an answer they give, and as an interviewer, you naturally want to learn more about that so you go off script and have a lovely 5 minute chat while they open up as to why they chose that industry because of a story their Grandfather once told them. 📓 🤔 Shouldn't time and money be invested in how to conduct an interview because I never had that training when I was a Hiring Manager? I am all for inclusivity and equal opportunities, and diversity and everything else, but is this going a step to far? Would LOVE to know your views. And just to clarify, by the end of this post, I now know what my views are. I hope that there is a blend of just chat in the interviews otherwise you could be missing out on some great candidates. #interviews #johnlewis #interviewpreparation https://lnkd.in/eQTDpzqQ

Something very close to my heart, and this is the plethora (love that word) of candidates out there who have worked for themselves and now want to be part of a business again. Their key drivers are usually: Miss being part of a team 👨💼 👩💼 They love what they do, just do not like running the business side of things 🏢 💔 So if you're a Hiring Manager, just pause for a moment and reconsider the following. And PLEASE look past a bad CV, because trust me, the "employed" people also have a great selection of awful CV's as well. #selfemployed #recruitingtips #candidateexperience
