“I’d met a few people from Wolseley in previous roles and was always struck by their energy and enthusiasm. When I dug deeper into the Wolseley culture and values, I knew it was somewhere I’d love to work. My recruitment experience was absolutely in line with my perception of the organisation; friendly, supportive and with values and behaviours reinforced at each stage of the process. ”
Meet some of our senior colleagues...
Our Wolseley Walk for Dementia UK is underway!
Our business-wide challenge to walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End for Dementia UK got underway on 31 August 2023. Our first group has now set off from John O’Groats – the northernmost point of mainland UK – with Rob Boland, John Hancock, Simon Dennis, Neal Lambert and Stuart Lee making their way south to Ackergill ahead of the second of 61 legs. The challenge will take around five weeks to complete, with our final group set to arrive at Land’s End on Monday 2 October.
Our colleagues in Exeter continue to support their local community
Our Exeter Burdens branch continues to support causes close to the hearts of its customers, having a positive impact on the local community whilst raising the profile of our business. Recent endeavours include the ongoing sponsorship of youth teams at Taunton Rugby Club, contributing towards a specialist bike for the disabled daughter of a customer, sponsoring a rally vehicle in support of Cancer Research and planting trees in North Devon to raise money for a local hospice.
Our Fairness and Respect Board and associated working groups
We established a Fairness and Respect Board in 2023, with the aim of providing a meaningful voice to all colleagues, raising awareness and education across the business, driving improvements in how we work together, our recruitment and facilities, as well as celebrating cultural events. It is supported by a series of working groups covering Race and Ethnicity, Religion and Beliefs, Age and Disability, Gender, Parents and Carers, and LGBTQIA+.
