Today is #TransDayOfVisibility 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈 We’re extremely proud that Rainbow Sisters, our solidarity group for LGBTQ+ women and non-binary individuals seeking safety, is trans-inclusive. Rainbow Sisters provides a warm and welcoming space for women to celebrate who they are. Women like Cola, who shared: 🗣️ “I used to be worried about showing who I am. But in Rainbow Sisters, I am accepted, comfortable and confident. I have made friends and I am happy.” Together we can create a future: 💖 Where LGBTQ+ women who have fled their country for their safety are able to rebuild their lives as their true selves; 🩵 That is safer and happier for all members of the LGBTQ+ community. Support our Rainbow Sisters today: https://lnkd.in/eapt7ykc ✨
Women for Refugee Women
Non-profit Organizations
We support women seeking safety in the UK to rebuild their lives on their own terms.
About us
At Women for Refugee Women, we support women who have fled persecution including rape, gender-based violence, domestic violence, forced marriage, female-genital cutting, sexual violence, torture and trafficking to rebuild their lives on their own terms. Through our programme of creative and educational activities, we support a network of over 650 refugee and asylum-seeking women to develop their confidence and skills. Every woman who joins our network will find a welcoming and supportive space in which she can meet other women and begin to rebuild her life, whether that be through speaking her first words of English or leading campaigns for a compassionate and fair asylum process.

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraiser, with strong experience in supporter engagement, stewardship and acquisition, and knowledge of the main fundraising platforms and CRMs. The role will support our organisation with the day-to-day management of individual giving such as communicating with donors, stewardship and promotion of event fundraisers, regular updating of Donorfy and other fundraising platforms. We’ll also need someone who can work independently to identify fundraising opportunities, develop pitches and comms materials such as supporter emails and social media posts. 📣 Launched TODAY! Our new research, A Decade of Harm, uncovers shocking new findings, including: ❌The harmful impact of immigration detention on women seeking safety; ❌ The concerning gaps between Home Office policy and practice. Key findings include: ❌ That 85% of women in detention felt anxious or depressed, and 65% felt suicidal; ❌ That male detention centre staff are still watching women in intimate situations, including whilst showering, getting dressed, or using the toilet, despite the Government BANNING this practice in 2016. We're urging the Government to: 1️⃣End the use of immigration detention for women; and 2️⃣Implement a new alternative to detention scheme for women. Find out more and read our report: https://lnkd.in/ejsVz5uV #EndDetention #SetHerFree #ADecadeOfHarm

❓Did you know that most people seeking asylum are banned from working? Talented, experienced and skilled people trapped in unemployment by a senseless ban. The work ban causes huge harm to women seeking safety, placing them at risk of further harm, abuse or exploitation. One rainy morning in early Spring, the Lift the Ban coalition visited Parliament with a loud and clear message: people seeking asylum are ready to work. Watch our powerful video and share our message to tell the Government it's time to #LiftTheBan, now!

✨ Happy International Women’s Day! ✨ For our community at Women for Refugee Women, #IWD is the perfect opportunity to come together to celebrate ourselves and each other. In the face of the challenges faced by refugee women in our network, it is so important to find moments of laughter, joy and togetherness. And our annual International Women’s Day party had them in abundance! 🥰 During the party: 🌈 A member of Rainbow Sisters, our solidarity group for LGBTQ+ women and non-binary people seeking safety, led an origami making station; 🎭 Members of our drama group performed original poetry and prose based on the themes of motherhood, care and love; ☕️Elahe, a member of our network and talented chef, led a traditional Iranian tea ceremony; 🍛 We feasted on a delicious hot lunch – following our tradition of trying different cuisines for each celebration – this time with traditional dishes from Tajikistan; 💃 Milly, a member of our network and Dance and Movement volunteer, led a lively and fun dance along; 💅🏽 Women enjoyed moments of peace and pampering in our beauty parlour, with gorgeous manicures and henna; 💜 And we danced, sang, and laughed together all afternoon! Today and every day, we celebrate the courage and resilience of the women in our network. You are all AMAZING women! And a huge THANK YOU to our wonderful staff team, volunteers, trustees, funders, and friends. We couldn’t do what we do without you. View some highlights of our party 👉 https://lnkd.in/etkY7spu

🗣️ “Being part of this community has changed everything. I feel motivated to rebuild my life.” - Ada International Women's Day (8th March) is just around the corner. It is a day to recognise women’s achievements, raise awareness of their challenges, and advocate for gender equality. 📢 ✊ Yet, too often, refugee women are left behind and treated as lesser. Many of the women we support have told us they feel unwelcome and like they don’t belong. Nobody should feel this way. This International Women’s Day, and beyond, stand with refugee women and make a huge difference to women like Ada - you can read her story here: https://lnkd.in/eC7wkJyN 💜 Donate now to support women like Ada to find community and belonging: https://lnkd.in/eR4RmhTJ #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay #Feminist #Charity #RefugeeRights
