We had the pleasure of attending the Schoolreaders 10 Year Celebration at The House of Commons this week! 🎉 We even got to meet the wonderful Gyles Brandreth, who is Patron of Schoolreaders (what a legend!) Through The Wob Foundation, we’re proud to have supported this fantastic charity with a £25k grant over the past two years, helping them continue their amazing work improving literacy in schools 📖💚 #supportingeducation #schoolreaders #literacymatters #wobfoundation #worldofbooks

The feel good place to buy books
About us
World of Books Group has come a long way since we were founded in 2002. It all began with a bag of books, rescued by book-loving entrepreneurs from a charity shop bin destined for landfill. They rescued them on the spot, determined to give them a second life, and World of Books Group was born. Over the last two decades, we have grown from a start-up into pioneers of the circular economy, helping more people join the reuse revolution. We may have grown, but our mission has never changed. We exist to support charities, protect the planet and make a positive impact in the world by enabling more goods to be reused. Today, we drive the circular economy through three brands: Wob, Ziffit and Shopiago. Through Wob, we sell. We provide affordable used books, DVDs, CDs and games to customers all over the world. Through Ziffit, we buy. We give people around the world the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy, earn money, and protect the planet by trading their unwanted items. We are one of the world’s largest trade-in sites in the UK and our model is 100% circular. Through Shopiago, we help others. Used by the UK’s leading charity retailers, Shopiago is a SaaS product that helps charities to grow their online sales and reduce waste through re-commerce. Because of all this, we’ve been awarded B Corp status – a business that meets the highest standard of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. We’re also officially certified Operational Carbon Neutral! In short, we care about people and the planet. Recently, we’ve grown the business by more than 50% by partnering with US trade-in site, Sell Back Your Book. Together, we’ll continue to help protect the environment by encouraging the reuse of books, CDs, DVDs, games and more. We look forward to all the work we can do to support the circular economy and reduce waste on a global scale.

We're thrilled to share that our very own brand Ziffit was recently featured on This Morning! 🎉 Ziffit was included in a segment about how to earn extra cash. Alice Beer highlighted how easy it is to use our app, the competitive prices we offer, and the wide range of books that we accept. Rylan was very impressed! 🤩 We're proud to help everyone turn unwanted items into extra cash and keep more books, DVDs, CDs and games in use 💚 #circulareconomy #extracash #thismorning

🎙️We were on the radio!🎙️ Our very own Sarah Walden spoke to BBC Radio 4 about the rise of secondhand books! Here are the highlights in case you missed it: 📚 How we're sourcing secondhand books: we buy books directly from customers, and in bulk from charities to give preloved books a new life 💕 📚 Our work with the publishing industry: we've recently started working with companies such as the Independent Publishers Guild and Macmillan Distribution to explore how we can sell publishers' end of life stock and get more books out of waste ♻ 📚 Why people are choosing secondhand: preloved books are affordable, accessible, sustainable and customers like that the books they're reading have a life of their own 💚 📚 Supporting authors: we pay authors royalties on the sale of preloved books in partnership with The Society of Authors. So far, we've paid out over £177k to authors since the scheme began 📖 📚Finally, if you're looking for your next read then check out Sarah's recommendations - Life Impossible by Matt Haig (released in a couple of weeks!), and Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness ✨🧙♀️ Find the interview here (we're on at 27:13): https://lnkd.in/e9ncVd9h #secondhandbooks #bookindustry #publishingindustry #charitysector #radiointerview

It’s Not Bloody Rocket Science – Summer School! I’m so excited to bring you this… I’m launching a free online Summer School to help you to take advantage of the benefits that summer brings for your brain when it comes to learning and development. Find out more in this one-minute video! Getting away from your desk and out into the summer sunlight (even if the sun is not shining…) is great for your brain. Scientists have found that doing almost nothing when we are walking barefoot on a beach or interacting with nature helps us think differently about things and solve problems. So, chilling out with just a little bit of stimulus is great for helping the brain with problem solving strategic thinking and creative ideas. So, whether you are having a staycation or have an airport queue to wait out and want to do something useful with your scrolling time, I’m hoping this series is right up your street/beach! All you need to do to participate is sign up to our 6-week subscription here: https://lnkd.in/euUqABxV It’s totally free of charge and we won’t spam you after the event - ideal if you don’t want to clog up your inbox come September but love the idea of learning together over summer. Once an episode has been released, it will stay on a secret part of my website that you will get exclusive access to, so that you can catch up or re-watch at your leisure. Feel free to ‘gift’ the subscription to your colleagues, family and friends. And if you really want to treat them (or you!) order a copy of Its Not Bloody Rocket Science as the summer school is based on the book. https://lnkd.in/eTx6WkmE If you get in there fast, we have a limited number of signed editions ready to send out to you… If you want a job lot of copies for your team to get ahead for summer, send me a DM. I too will be chilling out on a beach next week and taking my own medicine by not logging on…but my wonderful team will sort you out!! See you Monday 12th August for the first session of Summer School…It’s based on Chapter 1 – Lies if you want to get ahead and have the book already! If not it’s not too late to order your copy here from World of Books Group - a fabulous UK B Corp…on sale, print on demand to save trees and free P&P – what’s not to like?! https://lnkd.in/e-kxXiJg #ItsNotBloodyRocketScience #INBRSSummerSchool #Neuroscience #TopRightThinking
