“…really what I am most keen to see as a result of these publications [the World Happiness Report] is that every issue is discussed at every level - be it government, at work, thinking about people’s private lives - everything should be discussed in terms of its impact on people’s happiness.” Prof Lord Richard Layard, co-founder of the World Wellbeing Movement, appeared on Times Radio this morning to mark the publication of the World Happiness Report: https://lnkd.in/gM2g3DP Richard spoke about the opportunity to learn from the “egalitarian attitude” of Nordic nations and the need to shift our view of societal success to one which emphasises the contribution we can all make to the wellbeing of others. He also highlighted a positive move from the UK Government which, through the current spending review, is asking each department to consider what impact its policies will have on wellbeing. 📉 The decline in child and adolescent #wellbeing across the globe is very concerning. In 2024’s World Happiness Report, America fell out of the top 20 happiest countries in the world rankings for the first time, largely due to the significant decline in wellbeing scores among its young people. Concerns around our students and young people can cause extra stress for teachers who are already overworked. It’s vital that we support the wellbeing of our teachers, not just to protect their own wellbeing, but also for the positive impact it can have on student wellbeing and academic outcomes. Learn how to foster wellbeing in schools on the latest episode of the Working on Wellbeing podcast 👇 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eC8UBSH3 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eS76uhWF 📹 YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eNaD359D
