Together we can end cancer by starting new cancer cures worldwide.
About us
Worldwide Cancer Research is the UK charity starting new cures worldwide to end cancer. By 2030 cancer is predicted to become the leading cause of death worldwide. We urgently need to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer - but we can't do it alone. With your help, we vow to keep funding more lifesaving research projects into any type of cancer, anywhere in the world. We won’t stop until cancer does. Since Worldwide Cancer Research was founded in 1979 cancer survival rates in the UK have doubled. But with 1 in 2 people in the UK now predicted to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, there's still so much more to do. But we believe that we can do it, together. Your support will help people affected by cancer and provide much-needed hope for the future. Will you become a Curestarter?

Congratulations to all last night's worthy winners at Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland's Scottish Fundraising Awards 2024 🎉 In particular, well done to member charity Worldwide Cancer Research for winning the Best Legacy Campaign award for their 'Be the spark' campaign - which we were fortunate enough to learn more about in a member presentation at our April Member Forum earlier this year. The judges recognised that the campaign demonstrated how being bold and thinking outside the box can reap rewards within a legacy fundraising campaign - leveraging storytelling as a means of engaging supporters, whilst also being innovative in its use of a celebrity ambassador. Congratulations Worldwide Cancer Research!

Inspired and Thoughtful Leadership. Brand Prints to Follow! Not that long ago I was walking outside The Scottish Parliament and saw these paw prints after a light rain. I smiled thinking maybe the dog who made them had just visited their MSP to advocate for animal welfare. To me a sign of a modern, caring, and progressive nation is how it protects and serves vulnerable animals and people shouldering serious health issues. As we think of the many attributes that make Scotland a contemporary nation, there are many to uphold. The characteristics of how it serves the animal population and provides cutting edge research and care for health ailments clearly needs to be on that list. The global brand of Scotland around the world is rightfully linked to these attributes, but we can do even more to showcase that. How? First, Scotland is fortunate to have the Scottish SPCA leading the way with a talented and passionate team led by Kirsteen Campbell. It’s a role model example for similar organisations around the world. We also have entities like Worldwide Cancer Research based in Edinburgh that is uniquely mobilising funding for innovative research and unique care for those battling cancer. Scotland also has a depth of professional brand leaders that are insightful and experienced marketers and messagers who forge ideas that lead to greater giving. Enter the Lane Leadership Conversations. A particular conversation under the leadership series that was nicely facilitated by expert marketer Ali Findlay with Kirsteen, and Laura Brady of WCR as guests was hugely beneficial and insightful. The conversation focused on brand salience in the charity sector. The substance of the chat related to brand purpose, evolution, and adaptation was excellent. I appreciate how authenticity and boldness were raised, and how critical it is to ensure that services are modern so as to meet contemporary needs. And I love the concept brought out that people are behind the welfare of animals, health support, and causes that nurture lives and improve communities. Brand Scotland has done an excellent job establishing the purpose behind the goal of greater awareness. People such as GlobalScots and many others are now equipped with a multitude of stories to tell and examples to sight with pride. Standing up and being bold leads to deeper connections, greater investment, trade, and heightened philanthropic giving across sectors in Scotland. Give this excellent chat a listen - follow the brand prints - then leave your own trail. Remember we are all on this walk together.
