About us
Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it. We are a global environmental action NGO transforming our broken product and food systems. Our mission is to embed Circular Living — for the benefit of climate, nature and people. For over 20 years we’ve delivered programs that reduce CO2 and waste, restore nature and change people’s behaviour. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs — and in a world of mounting challenges, make Circular Living a beacon of change. Food, textiles and manufactured products account for nearly 50% of global greenhouse gas emissions. We need a new approach. We call this approach Circular Living. Circular Living means changing from our current take-make-dispose approach to a design-make-reuse approach — to radically reduce waste and carbon emissions from everyday products. Making #CircularLiving commonplace means examining sustainability challenges through the lens of people’s day-to-day lives and transforming the systems around them. Our citizen campaigns #LoveFoodHateWaste, #RecycleNow and #BeMightyRecycle! help individuals with practical solutions and techniques to reduce our environmental impact and embed Circular Living in our homes. WRAP reposted this
Delighted to attend and speak at The Circular Economy Hotspot in Wales, this week. Inspiring to hear about community repair shops and libraries of things taking off in Wales in line with the Well-Being of Future Generations Act (2015) from Huw Irranca-Davies, and Derek Walker. Heartening to hear references to the work of WRAP with Welsh Government and local authorities to help get Wales to second best country for recycling in the world. WRAP's mission is to embed Circular Living in every board room and every home. I reflected on which 5 things are essential for businesses to be a part of the future: not just to exist, but to really contribute to a sustainable economy. 1. Root strategy in the context of a regenerative and net zero destination which is defined in law in many countries. Work backwards to define sources of competitiveness (serving customers better) and sustainability delivery plans. These need to be part of the same holistic strategy. Align the KPIs across teams and departments to deliver both. 2. Set out to disconnect value creation from material consumption: it's a game-changer. Efficiency and Ecology will go hand in hand, but investment in an upgrade in design capability is critical. 3. Pre-competitive collaboration up and down the supply chain can be key to realising systemic change and address market failures - supported by governments with well-targeted regulation to prevent first mover disadvantage. 4. Sustainable procurement is not just essential for commercial organisations, it can make a massive impact to governments and public organisations too, and catalyse the economy. 5. Reframing what’s desirable and "normal" for citizens or customers will be instrumental in accelerating competitiveness and Circular Living. Marketing behaviour change is another key capability to build. We discuss this in our book, Sustainable Advertising. We joined businesses from across Europe at the Circular Economy Hotspot, #HotspotCymru2024, to discuss the importance of circular principles and practices - sharing ideas, learnings, and best practice to inspire the drive towards a circular future. Our CEO, Harriet Lamb, opened a networking event we co-hosted with CEIC Wales. She also met with Huw Irranca-Davies MS, Deputy First Minister of Wales and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, at our stand in the exhibitor hall. Our Chair, Sebastian Munden, took part in the Growing the Circular and Green Economy panel, discussing the circular economy in Wales and internationally. He reflected on what businesses need to contribute to a sustainable economy. Our Senior Campaign Managers, Angela Spiteri and Jackie Bailey ran a session on ‘Encouraging Circular Living Behaviours in Wales and Across the Globe’. And we also supported the delivery of breakout sessions on repair and re-use, sustainable / circular public procurement, and Circular Living Standards. Only through #CollaborativeAction can we achieve #CircularLiving. Let's make Circular Living commonplace. More from less.

We're proud to be among the organisations that nominated Build up Nepal for this year's prize. 1 million homes have been destroyed by floods and earthquakes in Nepal over the past decade. Rebuilding these homes is costly and the environmental impact is significant. Build up Nepal provides a sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon alternative to traditional clay-fired bricks, helping communities live safely in affordable, resilient homes.
We're excited to introduce Build up Nepal, a 2024 Finalist who is working to Fix our Climate. With a bold vision to reduce emissions and construct sustainable homes that keep local communities safe from earthquakes, Build up Nepal is on a mission to scale their efforts and maximise impact. To achieve #CircularLiving for plastic packaging we are examining sustainability challenges through the lens of people’s day-to-day lives and transforming the systems around them. Only through #CollaborativeAction can we eliminate plastic pollution and achieve Circular Living. Together we can make make #CircularLiving commonplace.
👏We are thrilled to announce that we are providing Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Huhtamaki India, and PepsiCo India a platform through the India Plastics Pact initiative, to lead five innovative projects focused on demonstrating recyclable solutions for flexible packaging! 📌Flexible plastics make up nearly 70% of all plastic packaging in India, with a large proportion of these being non-recyclable multilayered plastics; it is extremely important to improve their recyclability to achieve a circular plastics economy for packaging. 🤝The projects, supported by WRAP and Stewart Investors, will provide recyclable flexible packaging solutions across the food, home care, and personal care categories. 🗣️Here’s what the companies have to say as they embark on this journey…. 🌐For more information, visit www.indiaplasticspact.org or write to ippaction@cii.in. #CircularEconomy #TimeToActIsNow #TogetherWeCan #IndiaPlasticsPact #WRAP #StewartInvestors Confederation of Indian Industry, CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development
