It’s Day 1 of National Inclusion Week 2024! This year's theme, 'Impact Matters', emphasises the importance of our actions in driving genuine, sustainable change. Today is the International Day of Sign Languages - a day to celebrate and recognise the importance of sign languages around the world. British Sign Language (BSL) is an official British language and we have published guidance on how to plan and deliver better BSL content to meet the needs of Deaf BSL users. As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusive communications, we recently conducted a ‘test and learn’ pilot alongside the Met Office using an innovative digital BSL translation tool. This initiative was borne out of this year’s Project Spark! where the Met Office won the pitch to help drive communications which are ‘Accessible by Default’. The Accessible by Default resources aim to raise awareness of the importance of accessible communications, and includes tips and information on improving the provision of BSL. 🌟 What you can do today to ensure your comms are accessible and inclusive! Access the brilliant Accessible by Default resources - https://lnkd.in/eTSwUh6K If you’re a GCS member, read the guidance on BSL - https://lnkd.in/ed-FxhPW And, read the GCS and Met Office blog to learn how we are enhancing accessibility through innovation - https://lnkd.in/eWxuA9Z5 #GovernmentCommunicationService #GCS #UKGovComms #AccessibleCommunications #NationalInclusionWeek #ImpactMatters
