Congratulations to the British Business Bank on their 10-year milestone of creating positive change and impacting growing companies. To celebrate the occasion, Geraint M., Senior Investment Manager, and Rhys David CEO of EverTrek, a Welsh Foresight portfolio company presented at their anniversary event. Geraint reflected on the evolution of the funding landscape over the past decade, highlighting standout developments for both those seeking finance and investment managers. He also discussed the opportunities and challenges these developments present. In 2023, Foresight was appointed as Fund Manager for the British Business Bank’s Investment Fund for Wales (IFW). James and Oliver presented case studies on private equity and private debt, highlighting successful regional investment strategies undertaken on behalf of pension funds across the UK. After a period of strong growth with revenues soaring sevenfold since 2015, we have exited Northern Ireland based medical products distributor Hospital Services Limited to Asker Healthcare Group, a leading provider of medical products and solutions across Europe. During our investment period, Hospital Services Limited achieved strong organic growth, increasing employee numbers from 30 to 175 with eight strategic acquisitions and significant improvements in sustainability and governance. Foresight has supported HSL over the years with investments from its Growth VCT funds, the Northern Ireland Opportunities II Fund and AIB Foresight SME Impact Fund. This exit has achieved returns that range from 2.5x to 8.5x across these funds depending on their entry date. The event celebrated the significant strides made by the UK spacetech sector with $351m invested in 2024. The panel explored how to get started with investing in space tech, debunked common misconceptions, and highlighted exciting opportunities for investors.
