Congratulations to Phlux Technology on completing a £9 million Series A funding round led by BGF. We are proud to continue our support alongside investors Octopus Ventures and Northern Gritstone. Phlux Technology makes infrared sensors that detect heat and light, improving communication systems and vehicle safety. Their technology aims to make these sensors more efficient and reliable. The Sheffield based pioneering startup will use the investment to scale its team, ramp up production, and launch two new product ranges. During the event, Directors Rob Jones and Ray Harris discussed our nine-year history of investing in South Yorkshire, highlighting local investments such as MRMK, Phlux Technology, and Martek Marine Ltd. Rob and Ray shared our commitment to staying local by recruiting a new South Yorkshire investor and opening a Sheffield office later this year. The Foresight South Yorkshire Growth Equity Fund is a £20 million evergreen fund aimed at supporting growing companies in Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield and Rotherham. Our Foresight South West Fund announces a second close to reach its target of £100m! The Fund was initially launched with a cornerstone investment from Devon Pension Fund and has secured a further £50 million investment from Avon Pension Fund to achieve a second close at £100m. Through the fund, we are looking forward to supporting the growth of small and medium sized companies across the South West of England, investing into a broad range of sectors across a wide range of transaction types throughout Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Bristol-based Zero Point Motion has developed sensors to provide precise positioning and navigation, even in places where GPS doesn't work, making them ideal for applications in defence, space exploration, and autonomous systems. Chris Wiles, Director, Foresight’s Ventures team, shares: “Foresight initially invested in Zero Point Motion in 2021 to help Lia and the founding team bring this breakthrough sensing technology into the public domain.
