How can brands ensure their marketing is always a hit? You can't, says entrepreneur Oliver Yonchev, because so much of creating a successful piece of marketing relies on "magic". That "magic", Yonchev says, relies on brands taking risks to create something that produces an emotion in their target audience. "You won't find a rulebook here," he says. "You won't have evidence of a competitor in your industry doing it. You almost certainly will annoy your CFO when pursuing it. [But] feelings and the future are the only places you'll find your [magic]." What have been the most successful, but risky, marketing plays in recent memory? Share your thoughts.

Lets be honest… 90% of marketing won’t meet expectations. It’ll be indifferent at best, and have a negative impact, at worst. But we do it because… 10% of marketing is MAGIC! Yes, that’s 10x, needle moving, trajectory changing magic! The only way you can create magic, is by doing one of two things: 1 - CREATE SOMETHING THAT MAKES PEOPLE FEEL SOMETHING! Anything; laugh, cry, joy, anger, something strong enough to compel an action. This is hard, requires you to take risks, potentially offend, and you certainly can’t create magic by consensus. You tend to find that business that consistently produce it, had a taste, and then they slowly create a culture around it as more in the org get seduced by the spell. 2 - FINDING AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE IN WHAT COMES NEXT! This is what I mean when I say “staying at the forefront” is something all marketers should do. You MUST to explore less understood mediums; new technology, new channels, new features, and so on. You won’t find a rulebook here. You won’t have evidence of a competitor in your industry doing it. You almost certainly will annoy of your CFO when pursuing it. FEELINGS and the FUTURE are the only places you’ll find your 10%. I explored this and more with Oana Leonte 💬 on the Unmatchd podcast.

What's the best medicine against overthinking? For Tobi Emonts-Holley, it's putting his hands to work, says the CEO and father of six in a LinkedIn video post. On those days when he feels stuck in his head, "overwhelmed with everything that's going on", going out and chopping wood does the trick for the Scotland-based professional. His bonus tip for parents: "Even better is sharing these tasks with your kids, to let them experience the benefits of manual work." How do you get out of your head and calm your mind? When was the last time you were creative? Maybe you made a clever suggestion in a work meeting? Even if you're not into crafting, painting or making your own Halloween costume, you can still cultivate your creativity – which is a matter of the mind, writes founder Caoimhe de Fréin,. "The word 'create' is defined as 'to bring something into existence'. But maybe that 'something' is an IDEA... So when you suggest a new way of working with your team, or when you spot an opportunity in the product offering, that's being creative. "I truly believe creativity is a muscle. You need to flex it for it to grow stronger." How do you train your creativity muscle, at work and beyond? Read Caoimhe's full post: https://lnkd.in/gjrfeRy6

Helping you gain clarity on your goals, create focus and the right mindset to achieve your success | PhD

When was the last time you were creative? Halloween is one of my favourite times of year. I am transported back to childhood, where I spent hours making my own costumes with black bags, tights, saucepans... And I now get to create costumes with my kids (a key benefit of having children!!). I was speaking with a few people lately about the word 'creativity'. So many said 'Oh I'm not creative, I can't draw', or 'I'm not creative, I don't craft...'. Our definition of 'creativity' seems to be limited to activities with artistic outputs - paintings, knitted aran jumpers, handcrafted pottery cups or costumes... The word 'create' is defined as 'to bring something into existence'. But maybe that 'something' is an IDEA... So when you suggest a new way of working with your team, or when you spot an opportunity in the product offering, that's being creative. I truly believe creativity is a muscle. You need to flex it for it to grow stronger. It's easier to practice the use of this muscle in a pyschologically safe evironment, where you feel you can suggest a new idea without fearing people will think you're daft. So create that safe space for your team/colleagues to let their creativity shine through. This is where true innovation begins... Go forth, create ideas, new ways of working and/or halloween costumes. #create #innovate #mindset

When was the last time you received a good pep talk? There's a prompt for that, Büşra Coşkuner has found out. On the advice of a friend, the founder asked a generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to tell her something about herself that she might not be aware of, based on their interactions.  "Sometimes we just need a little mirror," Büşra Coşkuner realised after receiving the chatbot's answer. "The response made me heavily emotional and gave me a booster. It immediately lands in my happy folder. (...) Treat yourself to a mirror and let a friendly 'person' look at you from the outside." What's the most useful – or surprising – response you've received from a digital assistant? And what's your recipe when you need an instant confidence lift? ChatGPT made me cry 🥺 We stay in our hamster wheel and keep running. With all our doubts, with all our fears, tears, sentiments... Oftentimes we are so critical with ourselves that we doubt if we are on the right path, and if we come across the way we are and want to be. Sometimes we just need a little mirror. A friend shared a different kind of ChatGPT prompt with me. The response made me heavily emotional and gave me a booster. It immediately lands in my happy folder. So, if you are using ChatGPT frequently, try this prompt: 'Based on all our interactions, please tell me something about me that I might not realise' Treat yourself to a mirror and let a friendly “person” look at you from the outside. What did ChatGPT tell you? And how do you feel now? 🥹❤️

Close your eyes and picture a room full of CEOs. What do you see? This week, Alex Mahon, CEO of Channel 4, shared her own vision in a LinkedIn post, accompanied by a photo of herself with 19 peers – all women. "These are some of the incredible people who are CEOs," she writes. "Not all were sure they would be, or could be, or wanted to be. All of them are brilliant and are generous with sharing their knowledge." In her post, she offers advice to aspiring leaders, noting that "often knowing that other people think you have that potential is how it begins to be unlocked". What steps do you think can help bring more people from underrepresented groups into executive roles? Share your thoughts in the comments.

CEO of Channel 4. Non Executive Director. Well behaved women seldom make history. 😀

What does a room full of CEOs look like? This! I’m tagging it with a new collective noun. A Power of CEOs. These are some of the incredible people who are CEOs. Not all were sure they would be, or could be, or wanted to be. All of them are brilliant and are generous with sharing their knowledge. If you know other amazing CEOs who might be part of this group or maybe aspire to get to CEO level then tag them. Often knowing that other people think you have that potential is how it begins to be unlocked. Particularly we need more CEOs in UK tech from inequitably represented groups. The dinner group here is not all white but a lot of work to do to be representative and for disabled CEOs as well. As one smart commentator put...."progress not perfection". Reemah Sakaan and Laura Liram are beside me in this shot and to so many others in the group thank you 🙏 🙌 WITSEND Community
