Bergen event to explore maritime sector's zero-emissions initiatives
Vessel owners and operators are set to present advanced case studies showcasing new energy storage and fuel-cell technologies being deployed on vessels
The latest developments in batteries, hydrogen power, and fuel-cell technologies – and their applications across maritime sectors – will be thoroughly explored during a dynamic three-day conference in Bergen, Norway, from 29-31 October 2024 at the
Maritime Hybrid, Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cell Conference 2024.
The event brings together leading vessel owners, operators, logistics companies, port authorities, regulators, investors, banks, system integrators, naval architects, class societies, technology suppliers, battery manufacturers and industry associations.
Day one will focus on the developments and adoption of hydrogen fuel cells, with sessions covering investment, financing, market trends, regional advancements and business case studies for hydrogen-fuelled vessels.
Additionally, there will be sessions on fuel-cell solutions for oceangoing ships and insights from stakeholders on how hydrogen could become a sustainable maritime fuel.
Key speakers will represent A.P. Møller–Maersk, MSC Cruises, Napier, Switch Maritime, LH2 Shipping, Maris Fiducia, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, Hydrogen Europe, Norwegian Hydrogen, Hypermotive, Nedstack Fuel Cell Technology and Danske Bank.
Day one will conclude with a networking drinks reception, offering attendees the chance to mingle, share insights and build connections in a relaxed atmosphere.
The following two days, 30-31 October, will focus on developing and installing energy storage systems on ships to boost energy efficiency, reduce emissions and improve sustainability.
Equinor maritime logistics manager, Morten Sundt, and head of the European Commission’s DG MOVE unit for maritime transport and logistics Annika Kroon, will deliver keynote addresses to start both days.
Day 2 sessions will cover the latest technologies and market demand for maritime batteries; developing and testing alternative fuels; investment, financing, insurance, and regulatory requirements; and applying maritime batteries in deepsea and shortsea shipping.
At the end of Day 2, confirmed delegates are invited to an exclusive visit aboard Havila Polaris in the Port of Bergen for a firsthand look at its cutting-edge technology. (Spaces are limited, RSVP required). Following the ship visit, invited guests are welcome to join the Corvus Energy VIP reception for an evening of socialising and drinks.
Day 3 sessions will cover new vessel designs, technology, retrofitting existing vessels, shore power and port infrastructure requirements. Case studies will feature installing maritime batteries for all-electric and hybrid propulsion.
The conference will conclude with a highly anticipated shipowners’ panel.
