A heartfelt thank you to all our programme partners and supporters of the Forest and Peatland programme, both within and outside the University. It's inspiring to see what we can accomplish through collaboration and a shared vision. It was a pleasure celebrating with you all at Old College. We're still in the early stages of this work and we look forward to working with you more closely in the coming years 🍃 👏 https://lnkd.in/dMiZhcya SCOTLAND: The Big Picture | TreeStory | Shepherd and Wedderburn | ARDTORNISH ESTATE COMPANY LIMITED | Sylvestris | Scottish Forestry

If Scotland’s trees could talk, what would they say? A pilot project called Forgotten Woodlands from NatureScot, Forestry and Land Scotland, and Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba (the national advisory partnership for Gaelic place-names) has set out to map all Scottish place-names with the potential to reveal their historical woodland coverage. This, in turn, will hopefully inspire landowners and communities to think of the native trees their land used to support, and consider how they might wish to restore its ecological value for the future. https://lnkd.in/dYErBF7i Nam biodh comas cainnt aig craobhan na h-Alba, dè chanadh iad? Exciting Milestone at Drumbrae! 🌳 We’re thrilled to share that 20 trees, including alder, hazel, Scots pine, and oak, were planted on-site at Drumbrae as part of our Forest and Peatland programme. This event was attended by members of our senior leadership team, including the Principal Peter Mathieson, our new EUSA President Dora Herndon, and two of our current students, highlighting the collective effort behind this initiative. This planting is just the beginning! Our woodland creation project, recently approved by Scottish Forestry, will see significant progress this autumn 🍂 The University of Edinburgh #ForestandPeatland #Sustainability #WoodlandCreation #UoETakeAction
