We’ve got some great news for LG G3 users over on T-Mobile. Lollipop is on the way, again. This morning, Des from T-Mobile tweeted out that the Lollipop update has been approved and the rollout should begin shortly. So we may see the update rolling out as soon as today. So far it’s not known as to which version of Lollipop this will be. Whether it’s the Android 5.0.1 that had started rolling out, then got pulled, or if it’s something newer like Android 5.1.1. We’re crossing our fingers that its Android 5.1.1 ourselves.

The LG G3 is approaching a year old and is the predecessor to the LG G4 that just launched recently. Which seems to be all the rage these days, especially with that camera. The LG G3 launched with Android 4.4 KitKat on board and their newer version of their Optimus UI, which was a huge improvement over the LG G2, but still not perfect. The LG G4’s skin is an even bigger improvement, but again, it’s not perfect for most people. The LG G3 was the very first smartphone available worldwide with a 2560×1440 resolution display, which is quite a beautiful display actually.

Currently we don’t know the build number for this update, but we should know more in the very near future as the update begins to roll out to customers. The update is likely to be a rather large one, considering you’re jumping from Android 4.4 to Android 5.0. Those updates are usually around the 1GB mark. So make sure you are on WiFi and note 4G LTE – unless of course you have unlimited data, then go for it – as it’ll likely be faster on WiFi, depending on your area. To grab the update, head to Settings > General > About Phone > Software Updates > Check for Updates and see if you can pull down your update to your LG G3.

There are still a few more phones left on T-Mobile’s shelves that need their Lollipop update, hopefully those users won’t have to wait too much longer to get their taste of Lollipop, especially since the Android M Developer Preview is already out.
