A few months ago, Twitter and Google signed a partnership to allow tweets to show up directly in search results when users employed specific queries inside the company’s search engine. Unfortunately, the partnership was only reflected on mobile at first, leaving desktop users without the nifty feature, but after Google and Twitter realized just how useful and beneficial the partnership was, both companies decided to finally implement tweets into Google search results. Now, desktop users will be able to enjoy Twitter content showing up directly after entering a query into Google Search which might contain part of a tweet or could be bound to a relevant Twitter conversation. Since the relase of the feature on mobile, both companies involved began to greatly benefit from the affiliation, as Twitter now has millions of tweets easily accessible by anyone that does a simple search; and Google, now has a whole lot more engaging information to help its users find exactly what they might be looking for.
Today, Google’s Twitter account sent out a tweet directed to Twitter itself, in which the company jokingly invited Twitter to a “search party in their place” and to meet on desktop. Twitter quickly replied to the invitation and said that they’ll be bringing the tweets to the party. “Whether you’re interested in the latest from Taylor Swift, news about the #MadMenFinale, or updates on the NBA playoffs, you’ll have access to it directly from Google”, stated Google in the company’s official blog. The tweets that show up on Google, will be based on your search and on global events that might be happening at the moment, for example, you want to see what the world is saying about the recently leaked Nexus device, a simple search will now show what Twitter users might have to say about the device.
Twitter joining Google through this partnership is a great way to keep in touch with everything that is happening in the world in real-time, without the hassle of going through several pages of search results before finding what you are looking for. Currently, tweets will only show up for people searching in English, but the feature will most likely be expanded to other languages sometime in the future.
