Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 2.5 update to the Galaxy Z Flip launched earlier this year. This new update is most likely limited to the US, as of now. However, we can expect it to be soon rolled out to Galaxy Z flip devices in the other markets.

Samsung introduced the Android 10-based One UI 2.5 with the newly launched Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones. Last week, the company started rolling out the One UI 2.5 OTA update to the Galaxy S20 smartphones.

Galaxy Z Flip LTE version recevies One UI 2.5 update

Also, the new update is only available for the LTE version of Galaxy Z Flip. The One UI 2.5 update with the firmware version F700U1UEU2BTGE comes in 1.16GB in size. It also includes the Android security patch update for August 2020. As of now, there is no mention of the same update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

If there is no notification about the new update, the users can manually check for the latest OTA update by going to Settings > Software update > Download. The device gets an exclusive feature of using Bitmoji stickers in Always-On Display. It’s not available on the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 smartphones running on One UI 2.5.

No wireless DeX support for the device, though

The wireless DeX support is one of the key features of One UI 2.5 update. Since the Galaxy Z Flip doesn’t even support wired DeX, it’s also missing the wireless DeX support. The other new features include the enhanced Pro video mode, which brings an option to choose which onboard microphone to use for audio recording.

The users can also choose the Bluetooth earbuds for recording audio while shooting videos. Moreover, the users can now shoot 8K videos in a 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio. A newly added option allows the user to send a location-sharing message every 30 minutes for 24 hours.

With the One UI 2.5 update, the Galaxy Z Flip users can finally use the full-screen gestures even with third-party launchers. The default Samsung keyboard gets split function in landscape mode. Also, the keyboard’s search feature now works with Youtube as well.

As seen on the Galaxy Note 20 devices, the Galaxy Z Flip also supports requesting a Wi-Fi password from nearby contacts. During its virtual Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung also promised up to three generations of software upgrades for its smartphones.

Apart from all the flagship Galaxy Smartphones, the company also confirmed a select Galaxy A smartphones are also eligible for three years of software updates.
