Play Overview
Spelunky 2 (2020) is, like the classic Spelunky, a running and jumping game where you explore mysterious caves on the moon looking for your missing parents. On your journey, you will find unique environments, treasures, and people to join you as you delve deeper into the caves.
Spelunky 2 is structured around rounds of play, meaning you're expected to fail, start over, and try again many times. The world is filled with many traps, enemies, and challenges that can quickly lead to a game over. While this may sound frustrating the main idea is to learn from your mistakes and to be comfortable trying new strategies. It's less about your character becoming better and more about how you improve as a player.
Part of improving as a player is understanding what can help you along your journey. Spelunky 2 has a vast variety of items that can assist you in each round. Some items such as rope can help you navigate levels more easily, while other items such as the camera can be used to blind enemies and slow them down. With each attempt, you'll begin to discover what items are needed to help you succeed and what you can do to obtain them.
Spelunky 2 is a direct sequel to the first game: Spelunky. Despite the game being a sequel, you can jump into Spelunky 2 without missing anything.
