Sunderbans lost 2% mangrove cover in two years, reports central survey

Released on Monday in Delhi, the Forest Survey of India (FSI) report, said the mangrove cover in the Sunderbans has shrunk by more than two square kilometres – from 2214 sq km to 2112.11 sq km - between 2017 and 2019.

Infighting kills Royal Bengal Tiger in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park

A post mortem examination carried out by experts verified infighting as the cause of death. The carcass, which was found intact, was burnt in the presence of forest officials, wildlife activists and others.

Translocated Royal Bengal Tiger found dead in Odisha forest, may have got injured while trying to get out of snare

The exact reason of the three-year-old tiger’s death will be ascertained after a postmortem is conducted, a senior forest official said Thursday. The royal bengal tiger was brought from Madhya Pradesh’s Kanha Tiger Reserve on June 21 and released in the wild on July 7.

Odisha poaching case: Carcass found was of Royal Bengal tiger

Following the arrest of a gang of poachers a day earlier, Odisha forest officials confirmed on Sunday that the animal carcass they discovered from a pit near the Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary is that of a Royal Bengal tiger.
