To improve the disengaged performance of a working-from-home worker, remember three things: Empathy, Communication, and Actions. Have one-on-one open communication to get him to understand the obstacles in his way to success; clarify whether it's an excess of workload, personal problems, or lack of clarity, clearly spell out how his contribution will impact and fit into the team. Work with them to set achievable goals; henceforth, provide what they may need to achieve those goals-be it training or equipment. After some time, do a follow-up and give your feedback.
