These sessions should be consistent rather than exhausting. By making learning a habit, you can accumulate a significant amount of knowledge each year, even with just 15 minutes of study per day. It’s also crucial to know what to learn. LinkedIn is an excellent platform to connect with seasoned industry professionals. Observing their career paths can provide valuable insights into the skills and knowledge you should acquire.

In my experience, follow-up and stability are the key factors here. I personally followed the gaming community that I was interested in for years, observed what the people here were doing, tried to stay informed about the developments in the industry and equip myself. When setting a career goal, it is very critical to reach your goal with improved personal development. When you appear in front of people, even if you are a volunteer, you must be experienced, you must be aware, you must be equipped so that they can evaluate you. It is very, very critical to follow every trend, no matter how important or unimportant, no matter how little or big. Just learn new things, take courses, and add value to yourself in every sense.

Developing technical skills is extremely important, whether you are a solo developer or a company manager. Knowing the general outlines of the product you are producing is crucial. Most people focus on key elements like gameplay, graphics, and level design. However, it's also essential to research and gain knowledge in areas such as UI, sound design, and visual effects. In addition to this, creating a good game alone is not enough. Community management, social media usage, and marketing tools, combined with effective communication methods, are also crucial for a company's and game's success. Moreover, these elements contribute to maintaining sustained success.

If you are in the gaming industry, building and maintaining a broad network is extremely important. Especially for indie game studios, a wide network can open many doors. Sometimes, it can provide access to valuable insights and mentorship from industry professionals, and other times, it can help you easily find the right workforce you need. Similarly, networking is a crucial key to better managing marketing and investment processes, as well as expanding and growing your company.

I think this is one of the most critical areas for me. Using your network effectively is as critical as being experienced in what you do. Look at the people in your target position. Communicate with them, attend events where they are present. Present your own achievements or things you have prepared & produced to them and get feedback. Don't say that "it's just a person", try to constantly expand and communicate with new people so that these people can be a door for you later. It is essential to create doors where you can learn from them, get feedback and improve yourself. In fact, instead of just taking something from those people, show them what you can add to them.

Game production processes require a multidisciplinary structure. Due to the nature of the job, employees in this sector have knowledge and valuable ideas on many subjects. However, apart from all this, it is extremely important to increase in-depth knowledge in a particular field. For example, specializing as a technical designer or game economy designer will be your signature and will ensure that the games you produce have more depth and quality. Such expertise offers a unique contribution to your projects and makes you indispensable in the industry.

I think being proficient in your own skills is extremely critical and yet simple. My experience has always been shaped around community. I wanted to be a Community Manager in a large company in the future, and that's how I spent my years. My only goal was to gain experience in the CM field. Since my student years, I have participated in events related to my own skillset, written in forums, established communication w/ people, managed communities, opened clubs at the college, and established agencies that provide CM services. I constantly tried to equip myself here. After successfully completing this equipment, I was able to easily transfer my experiences to the positions I applied for. Finally, I achieved my dream. Patience is key.

Whether you work from home or in an office, one of the biggest challenges in managing long-term projects is the inability to track tasks effectively. Learning task tracking tools and gaining experience in this area will always be beneficial. Similarly, in a project where many people are working together, communication becomes highly important. Developing team communication skills, both under stress and in normal conditions, ensures healthier project development.

If you work or want to work in the gaming world, it is very important to develop your own skillset, but I think the importance of soft skills outweighs this. In this atmosphere, you will always work directly with different people, departments and communities. For this reason, there are many areas where you need to improve and focus apart from your own skills. If you don't focus on these, you may not get enough out of your own talents. You must be particularly competent in areas such as teamwork, patience, understanding and crisis management. You should know the feedback culture well. You must be able to both give and receive effective feedback. You must be able to work with cross-functional teams and make strategic decisions.

I've found this area incredibly undervalued in the gaming industry in general, in fact naming them 'soft skills' enables them to continually be down played in organisations due to the belief that vocational skills are impersonal and easier to measure. Seth Godin calls them 'real skills' because they are at the heart of what we need today. They're real because even if you've got the vocational skills, you're no help to most organisations without these human skills too (the things we're unable to write down or program a computer to do). Soft or real skills are not about manipulating, they're about being a decent human in service to others. Be a decent human in service to others.

Being proactive and involved in development and management processes is extremely valuable. These behaviors can sometimes lead to mistakes and even failures. However, every failure and mistake brings with it very valuable knowledge and experience. In some cases, setting out with the intention of making mistakes can be beneficial. Being bold and making mistakes, especially at a young age, will give you valuable experiences and knowledge that will lead you to success in the future. Whether you make big mistakes or small ones, do not let them demoralize you or decrease your motivation at any stage of the game development process. Remember, every mistake and failure is an important and valuable key that leads to success.

One time at work, and in a company that is truly my dream and is very important to me, I made a mistake that, in my opinion, is unacceptable. I thought the aftermath would be completely negative, but things did go completely reverse. My manager, my teammates and many company employees taught me how I could learn from this issue, how I should behave from now on, and many other similar things. The big mistake I made in this scenario was actually a great experience for me. After this process, I could take risks more easily and make bolder decisions. When I made a mistake again, I was not afraid and was just trying to learn something from the outcome. Make mistakes, analyze, learn and improve yourself.
