October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a vital global initiative established in 1985 to raise awareness and funds for research, prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. 💟 Breast cancer represents approximately 12% of all new cancer cases worldwide, making it the leading cancer among women. Each year, around 1.5 million women receive a breast cancer diagnosis, highlighting the need for continued awareness and action. 👨⚕️ The increasing rates of breast cancer, especially in Western countries, can be linked to significant lifestyle changes over the past few decades. Factors such as obesity, unhealthy diets, sedentary lifestyles, alcohol consumption, smoking, and elevated stress levels contribute to this trend. Additionally, women with a family history of breast cancer, prolonged hormone exposure, limited breastfeeding, and those who have never had children are at higher risk. Genetic factors also play a crucial role, with BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations being the most common hereditary causes of breast cancer. These genes are essential for repairing damaged DNA, and mutations can lead to uncontrolled cell growth. The importance of early detection cannot be overstated; research shows that when breast cancer is diagnosed early, cure rates can reach an astonishing 95-97%. This makes awareness and preventive measures essential, as proactive women are more likely to pursue screening and early intervention. Key screening methods include: 🎗 Self-examinations to check for changes or abnormalities 🎗 Imaging tests such as digital mammography, breast ultrasounds, and MRIs 🎗 Clinical examinations by healthcare professionals Remember, early detection can be life-saving! Prioritize your health and get screened today. Together, we can increase awareness, support those affected, and ultimately reduce the impact of breast cancer in our communities. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #EarlyDetection #SupportAndSurvive

Grateful to have attended the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE SKG) conference! Theme: "Educating for Patient-Centered and Community-Engaged Healthcare" The conference was packed with insightful sessions, but a few workshops truly stood out for me: Student Involvement in Healthcare Education, Patient and Family Voices in Transforming Healthcare, Quality of Care and Patient Safety, Immersive Teaching and Learning Technologies, Peer-to-Peer Education, and Emotional Intelligence. Here are a few takeaways: 1. Peer-to-Peer Training👥 Reduces the age gap between trainers and trainees, fostering easier feedback, inquiries, and clarification. It also boosts the confidence of trainers in their knowledge. 2. Patient and Family Voices in Transforming Healthcare🗣️ Providing ample opportunities for patient feedback and making it clear when this feedback has been used to create change is essential for improving healthcare. 3. Emotional Intelligence🧠 Addressing mental health within the medical community is crucial. Using methods such as open awareness, cognitive reframing, embodied listening, attentional training, and emotional availability helps create well-rounded, empathetic professionals. 4. Quality of Care and Patient Safety📊 Quality matters because, without a certain standard, even large-scale efforts lose effectiveness. Exploring methods to improve healthcare quality, such as rewarding the most improved health centers, can have a significant impact. 5. Immersive Teaching and Learning Technologies🎮 As someone who studied anatomy last year, I remember the challenge of visualizing the anatomical relations of organs and vessels. That's why I was particularly excited about 3D Organon —an immersive technology that allows you to see everything in 3D space, in its exact location. It feels like a game, making studying more engaging and efficient, transforming the learning experience into one where usable and accurate knowledge is gained with less effort. This conference reinforced my passion for using technology to improve healthcare while emphasising patient-centered education. I am excited to see how tools like 3D Organon will continue to push healthcare forward!💡 #AMSE #PatientCenteredCare #MedicalEducation #3DOrganon #InnovationInHealthcare #CommunityHealthcare #FutureOfLearning #healthtech
