6K’s UniMelt® microwave plasma produces advanced materials for additive manufacturing and battery storage
About us
6K’s UniMelt® microwave plasma develops advanced materials across a wide spectrum of markets including metal powders for additive manufacturing and advanced materials for battery storage. It’s positioned to replace today’s traditional processes, which are environmentally unfriendly. 6K overcomes these limitations, delivering a significantly lower cost, more sustainable approach. In additive manufacturing, the UniMelt utilizes materials like CNC scrap and turns it into premium powder. With close to 100% yield, energy is saved and waste eliminated throughout the process. Competing technologies create 70-75% scrap and are forced to either send it to landfill or put it back into the supply chain, increasing energy and carbon waste dramatically. It’s a similar story with battery materials. Traditional processes generate large amounts of pollutants, consume huge quantities of water, use energy-intensive processes and take 2-3 days for production. The UniMelt produces material in 1-2 seconds, produces zero hazardous waste, achieves a 6X reduction in water usage, and a 3x reduction in power usage and CO2 emissions.

Final Treasury Guidance on 45X!
The American Critical Minerals Association (ACMA) welcomes the release of the Treasury Department’s final guidance for the advanced manufacturing tax credit under Section 45X. While we continue to review the rule in its entirety, we are very encouraged by the inclusion of direct and indirect materials costs in the calculation of production costs. This broader interpretation is a meaningful signal that comes at an important moment for U.S. companies repeatedly challenged by the effects of volatile price environments and anticompetitive practices. The final guidance recognizes the importance of ensuring domestic processors, battery manufacturers, and other supply chain stakeholders can better realize the intended benefits of 45X. https://lnkd.in/euyEnSKx

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 6𝗞 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘅 I was at The Battery Show last week and was able to speak to my friends (thank you Thanh & Bruce) at 6K Energy about the topic of Battery Recycling and how their (very unique) UniMelt process plays are role. Here's some of highlights of the conversation: 🔹𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹s: 6K Energy is focused on creating a circular economy for domestic, cost-effective, and sustainable battery material recycling. 🔹𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀: 6K Energy has partnered with Aqua Metals to build a circular supply chain for critical battery minerals in the US. 🔹𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: Aqua Metals uses AquaRefining technology to recover critical metals from spent lithium batteries using electricity in a closed loop, reducing emissions and landfill waste by 95%. 🔹𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗠𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: 6K Energy’s UniMelt process is the world’s first full-scale microwave plasma production system for sustainable battery materials. 🔹𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Starting in 2024, Aqua Metals will supply 6K Energy with sustainably recycled critical minerals, ramping up to provide 30% of the nickel and lithium carbonate needed for 6K Energy’s PlusCAM facility. 🔹𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The partnership aims to lower emissions and reduce landfill waste significantly compared to current battery recycling processes. It's really exciting to see that 6K already has a more sustainable, lower energy solution that can help accelerate the scaling of the recycling sector outside of China. #BatteryRecycling #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #BatteryIndustry #Innovation #6K eMobility Strategy & Marketing LLC
