Based on construction progress to date and our latest CAD drawings, our engineers and artists are reimagining what our Apex 1 campus in Hopkinsville, KY will look like when finished. Project completion is still a couple years away, but the facility will begin producing #decarbonized, high-nickel #pCAM next year! The Apex 1 facility will be powered by renewable energy and produce 27kT of decarbonized pCAM per year in 2026. Eventually, the plant will produce enough pCAM and CAM to equip up to 750,000 #electric vehicle #battery packs per year. Take a closer look at Apex 1, North America's first commercial-scale pCAM manufacturing campus. We're making new, engineered #EV battery materials from used #lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scrap. #recycling #circularity #closedloop https://lnkd.in/gy2T7HWb

You can always count on Canary Media Inc. to share some good news about the environment...and use some cool infographics while doing it. 📊 According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the United States is building a record amount of #cleanenergy capacity in 2024. This includes energy storage capacity (i.e. #batteries), which we all know can and must be #recycled at end of life. 🔋 ♻ Great reporting by Daniel McCarthy and the team at Canary Media. "The overwhelming majority — 97 percent — of the new capacity added this year came from carbon-free #solar, #battery storage, #wind, and nuclear projects." 👇 https://lnkd.in/gcC2KE4H

The terms “circularity” and “closed loop” are often used to describe #battery #recycling processes like #pyrometallurgy and #hydrometallurgy, but these traditional recycling processes are just the first steps in any round-trip journey of battery materials. The typical outputs of battery recycling require extensive processing before they can go into new EV batteries, but our patented Hydro-to-Cathode® direct precursor synthesis process makes sustainable, battery-ready #cathode material with up to 90% lower carbon emissions compared to traditional cathode manufacturing with primary materials from mining. As this diagram illustrates, it's the most direct and efficient #closedloop battery recycling process. According to a new report from RMI, the considerable amount of mineral extraction needed to supply the EV revolution pales in comparison to the oil extracted for traditional ground transport every year. Since battery materials can be almost infinitely #recycled, it’s easy to imagine a future when most #EVs will be powered by recycled #metals. What a difference a year makes! Our team in southwest #Kentucky continues building America's first commercial-scale #EV #battery #cathode precursor (pCAM) manufacturing facility. Thanks to our team members and construction partners like Turner Construction Company and Kokosing, a ton of progress has been made since this time last year. And we're not done yet. In Summer 2025, our Apex 1 facility will pump out over 33 tons of #decarbonized #pCAM every day...or about 1,000 tons per month. And that's just the start. In Summer 2026, we expect Apex 1 pCAM output to reach 2,000 tons per month! With up to 90% lower carbon emissions, our #sustainable pCAM battery material will help electric vehicle OEMs #accelerate their #netzero carbon goals. Check out the progress we've made so far! 👇 https://lnkd.in/e7TFaVJK
