Our friends at Children In Film, Inc. have issued a notification of substantial delays currently impacting young talent’s ability to obtain California Entertainment Work Permits – permission for minors to work in film – extending the process to approximately 3.5 weeks. They have also outlined best practice recommendations to help mitigate the impact on commercial production timetables: - If a minor under 16 years old hasn’t applied for a California Entertainment Work Permit previously, they may immediately obtain a $50, 10-day temporary work permit from the DLSE. - For immediately pending employment, the production company can hand-sign a letter on company letterhead about the urgent need and send to EWP-WorkLetter@dir.ca.gov. - Start the renewal process early – plan to seek permits about 2 months in advance of the expiration date to avoid lapses. To celebrate Labor Day Weekend, 7Miles Global will be closing early (2pm in local time zones) on Friday, August 30th and will remain closed through Monday, September 2nd. We will be returning to normal business hours on Tuesday the 3rd. Please plan to submit any urgent paperwork or items as early as possible to ensure processing deadlines are met. Many stations will be closing for the holiday and/or are operating on accelerated timetables - please reach out to your 7MG partners to ensure delivery within station specific deadlines for traffic and other timely requests. Please also note that industry unions require premium pay for work over the holiday. If you anticipate any urgent needs and/or production support that may arise during our closure, please let us know in advance.
