The Biden-Harris administration recently announced new actions to protect American consumers, workers, and businesses by cracking down on de minimis shipments with unsafe or unfairly traded products. As part of these changes, the de minimis exemption for goods subject to certain tariffs has been revoked, and new requirements for additional information on de minimis shipments have been introduced. Over the past decade, the number of shipments entering the United States under the de minimis exemption has skyrocketed. This surge in de minimis shipments has made it increasingly difficult to enforce U.S. trade laws, uphold health and safety standards, protect intellectual property rights, and prevent the entry of illicit synthetic drug. Be sure to tune into episodes 1, 2, and 3 of the “Time Out for Trade” podcast, where Amy Magnus dives deep into the topic of de minimis. Catch all the insights here: https://hubs.la/Q02RLz9J0
