Let's do good around the world this holidays season! 🎄 Rain Collective is an organization dedicated to fighting exploitation and human trafficking of migrant workers in the Middle East & North Africa. A big part of their work is helping migrants and specifically domestic workers, often the most vulnerable, exit situations of exploitation. As you know I had been living in the Middle East since 2014 and I feel connected to this region; I understand the specific challenges and issues over there and I'd like to encourage my friends and colleagues to support this campaign by Rain Collective and I know together we can make a difference. They are currently raising money during their Rain Freedom campaign to help survivors of human trafficking get home and into aftercare. To learn more about their work and give a donation, visit their website: www.araincollective.org, or follow them on LinkedIn l Rain Collective.

In a season filled with nostalgia and celebration, we acknowledge that the holidays can also be a time that many are struggling. #bluechristmas is an opportunity to express this pain, as well as to find comfort and peace in God’s presence and being present for each other. Many migrants and survivors we work with are experiencing extreme loneliness this time of year. Maybe you can relate? Whatever you’re feeling this holiday season, we invite you to hear their stories and journey with us. We are in our final weeks of our Rain Freedom campaign. To support survivors of human trafficking, you can donate here: https://lnkd.in/dM98TEPn Together, we can bring the hope of the season to those hurting in this time. #bluechristmas #holidays #hope #migrantworkers #antitrafficking #survivorvoices

For their strength, resiliency, and all we’ve learned from them. And we’re thankful for YOU, our wonderful community! We are still raising money during our Rain Freedom campaign to help more survivors of human trafficking get home and receive care. We invite you to learn more, share and donate here: https://lnkd.in/dM98TEPn Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, from the Rain Collective.

Yesterday was the third bi-annual Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATIP) Policy Leader Roundtable in the U.S. Senate, sponsored by Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance with CEO Tim Nelson FRSA joining us from the UK. I was grateful to Congressman Chris Smith Senator Marsha Blackburn Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Representative Sheila Jackson Lee who spoke about their anti-trafficking legislation and representatives from 13 Congressional offices, the U.S. State Department J/TIP office, and 40 organizations. We had rich discussion and questions around key legislation such as: ✅Trafficking Survivors Relief Act ✅the REPORT Act ✅the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Protection Act ✅the Jimmy Deal Act ✅Stop Human Trafficking in School Zones Act and many more… Perhaps the highlight was a lived experience expert's insight into the impact of the Debt Bondage Repair Act, which passed in the previous Congress, and her explanation of how laws provide solutions that empower survivors. Together, we're driving impactful policy change. We partnered with Hopeland to bring attention to Orphanage Trafficking and call for resources and strategies to center around placing children in healthy family settings. We thank Hopeland and Sanctuary Foundation for including us and hope for solid outcomes.

This week we gathered leaders from around the world for an UNGA side event to discuss Orphanage Trafficking. Ruth Wacuka shared her experience growing up in an orphanage in Kenya despite having a family. We must prioritize family-based care in all child care and protection policies, donations and volunteering. Thanks to all who joined us and our event partners Interparliamentary Taskforce on Human Trafficking, Rain Collective and Sanctuary Foundation.
