About us

What we do might surprise you! AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, social mission organization with a membership of nearly 38 million. Our aim is to disrupt outdated stereotypes about aging, turn goals and dreams into real possibilities, and fight for the issues that matter most to people 50-plus, their families and communities. Our social impact work in health security, financial resilience, and personal fulfillment is at the heart of what we do. With offices in every state plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, we live and work in the communities we serve. We listen to what people need and want, and offer programs, services and trusted information that are directly relevant to them. State offices also work with our national office to amplify our members’ voices at the local and federal levels to help empower people 50 and above to choose how they live and work as they age. From being a force for positive change to producing the nation’s largest-circulation magazine – the full scope of what we do might surprise you! That’s why people who are excited by unique opportunities and galvanized by meaningful challenges come to work at AARP.

Did you know that many resumes are discarded before they ever reach human eyes? In today’s job market, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are the gatekeepers of your resume. These digital platforms help recruiters collect, scan, and sort online job applications as they’re submitted. 🔍 How does ATS work? ATS scans resume elements like contact info, job titles, and education to determine if your resume fits the criteria. If it doesn't, your application may be rejected without ever being seen by a recruiter. Resumes that meet certain criteria are passed on to human recruiters, while others are rejected. 💡 Here are a few things you can do: - Use an ATS-friendly resume template: Avoid complex layouts, graphics, and unusual fonts that might confuse the system . - Incorporate relevant keywords: Match your resume with keywords from the job description to align with what the ATS is scanning for. For example, for a sales representative role, keywords might include “communication,” “negotiation,” and “customer service.” - Save your resume as a Word document: ATS reads Word files more reliably than PDFs. If a PDF is specifically requested, then use that format. 🚀 Want to help ensure your resume gets past the hiring bots?
