We got a brand new Skyeye! 🚁
Check out this hawk! ABC13 Houston recently took delivery of a new chopper. We’ve got amazing optics, AR overlays, and a graphics job visible from a mile away! We’re the only station in Houston with our own helicopter, and it allows us to cover all major events in our 10,000 square mile DMA with speed.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Pearland ISD invited Rita and Jacob to Sablatura Middle School. They were able to share their personal stories and career journeys as Hispanic Americans with the students. Thank you for having us, Pearland ISD!

We've missed having Elyse Smith in the newsroom this week, but ABC News Live borrowed her to help with Hurricane Milton coverage. Safe travels home to Houston, Elyse!

What an honor to attend the 45th News and Documentary Emmy awards in New York City! Reporter Jessica Willey and Executive Producer Laura Taglialavore represent our nomination for Texas True Crime “The Cop Who Wouldn’t Quit.” Chris Graczyk was the photographer/editor on the project. Although they didn’t leave with a statue, it was a memorable night and an honor to be nominated.

Last week I had the chance to learn from one of the best, Jason Mangold! We visited the KTRk transmitter site, saw our towers serviced, learned how much it takes to send and receive good quality signals and images. Plus, we got to wear hard hats!

Thank you, Paula Harris and the Houston Astros Foundation for the invitation to facilitate a panel discussion on “Houston’s East End – Then & Now,” during your Hispanic Heritage Pre-game Celebration! Thank you to our moderator ABC13 Houston-Rita Garcia. Council Member Joaquin Martinez did an amazing job with Opening Remarks and the room was filled with so many East End leaders and everyone was reminded of the history, growth, progress, and future of the East End! Panelists included Phyllis Mandola, Restaurateur & only daughter of the legendary restaurateur “Mama” Ninfa Laurenzo, Raquel Boujourne, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Indi Construction Partners, LLC, Irving Chavez, Owner, the Eden Plant Company, and Maria Fernanda Aguirre, Director, Community Relations, Port Houston , who each had a unique perspective and connection to our East End Community! We all then enjoyed cheering on our Houston Astros to a 10 to 4 victory!! Go Astros!! Please click the link below to view more pictures from the event! https://bit.ly/3zE8pnx

Here's another edition of what it takes behind the scenes to keep ABC13 on TV! Shout out to Jason and the crew hard at work the past several weeks.
Greasing guy wires should be featured on Dirty Jobs! Much respect to Jason our transmission engineer and to this crew who’s been working on our 2000’ tower for the past several weeks. 27 wires and well over 100 gallons of grease injected into the lines. We do this about once every 8 years give or take. ABC13 Houston
