Bringing the AC Hotels by Marriott Vancouver Waterfront to life was a complex and rewarding journey, and we’re incredibly proud to have played a key role in ensuring the art program was delivered seamlessly, on time, and within budget. From the very start, it was clear that this project needed the perfect balance of creativity and precision. We worked closely with DLR Group and Indiewalls, a preferred art consultant for AC Hotels. Their experience across multiple AC properties helped make the process smooth and straightforward. Together, we sourced art that fits beautifully with the design vision while meeting our high standards for craftsmanship, durability, and long-term value. Managing installations across multiple phases, coordinating timelines, budgets, and quality control wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it in the end! What truly sets this project apart is how the art fits so naturally within the space—each piece was carefully chosen to reflect and enhance the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty. The collection feels like an extension of the surroundings and our team made sure every single piece was installed flawlessly, down to the last detail. Seeing the final product—a stunning hotel that tells a cohesive story through both its design and art—is the most rewarding part of what we do. We’re so proud to have contributed to creating a seamless experience for the client, and to be part of the talented team that brought this vision to life. The 2024 winner of the Indie Award for the Most Innovative Hotel Design is: Americana Motor Hotel! Built in 1962 and reopened in the Summer of 2023, Americana Motor Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona is inspired by the region’s natural wonders, its deep connections to astronomy as the world’s First International Dark Sky City, and its prime location on Route 66, all captured through a lens of late 1970s and early 1980s utopian idealism. The design concept, conceived by Andrew Alford, founder of Andrew Alford Creative LLC, is based on a retro futuristic vision of a contemporary world filled with peace, equality, and ample leisure time. The project pairs a fearless color palette and bold graphics with earthy wood paneling and utilitarian touches inspired by outdoor adventure equipment. The unexpected mix of natural and science fiction elements creates a style Alford calls “rustic futurism.” Congratulations to Americana Motor Hotel!
