During his extensive tenure at Citi, he held key leadership roles including Head of North America Investor Sales and Relationship Management, Head of Flow Credit Sales, Head of Special Asset Pool, and Managing Director of Fixed Income Syndicate. Following his time at Citi, Ish took on a senior position as Managing Director at ArrowMark Partners. At the beginning of 2024, Ish joined Franklin Templeton as a Vice Chairman of Enterprise Relationship Management, where he is responsible for cultivating and managing firmwide relationships with key partners. ACADEMY SITREP – ISRAEL KILLS SINWAR IN GAZA October 17, 2024 | https://lnkd.in/eAU3EmiC What has Happened: -Earlier today, it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar during an operation in Gaza. -Sinwar has been the leader of Hamas operations in Gaza since 2017, and he is believed to be the key architect of the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. -Sinwar, who has not been seen publicly for over a year, has also been the political leader of Hamas after Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran in July. -With negotiations for a hostage release and a Gaza ceasefire deal effectively on hold for almost a month (following the killing of Nasrallah and the significant Israeli operations against Hezbollah), the hope is that this latest development brings both sides back to the table, but that remains to be seen. -Sinwar could be succeeded by his deputy in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, who has represented Hamas in ceasefire negotiations with Israel, or by former Hamas leader, Khaled Meshaal, but the leadership structure going forward is not entirely clear. -Israeli PM Netanyahu said today that there were “no signs of harm to the hostages in the encounter in question.” -Meanwhile, last evening, the U.S. carried out airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen with B-2 stealth bombers, hitting five underground weapons storage facilities. ACADEMY SITREP – NORTH KOREA SENDS TROOPS TO HELP RUSSIA IN UKRAINE October 16, 2024 | https://lnkd.in/eSdxyVHm What has Happened: -While North Korea began supplying munitions to Russia for use in its war in Ukraine over a year ago, there are now reports that the regime has sent troops as well. -A small number of North Korean personnel have been in a training role with the Russian military and some of them were recently killed in a Ukrainian airstrike. -The war in Ukraine is an opportunity for North Korea to send personnel to learn from military engagements that include Western weapons and also to observe its own weapons used in a real-world environment. -Similar to North Korea’s desire to see its own systems in action, China continues to deploy forces in war game exercises around Taiwan to test its military forces and hone its ability to execute a blockade around Taiwan. -While Russia reinforces its relationships with North Korea and Iran, Zelensky has recently briefed Ukraine’s allies on his “victory plan” that includes an invitation to join NATO, the lifting of restrictions on long-range strikes into Russia, a refusal to trade Ukraine’s territories and sovereignty, and the continuation of the incursion into Kursk. -As Russia continues to make progress in eastern Ukraine and has begun to attack grain shipping in the Black Sea, Ukraine will likely push for more support from its allies to negotiate from as strong of a position as possible in the event of a ceasefire in 2025.
