Today, the FCC adopted a new framework to facilitate the transition to Next Generation 911! We believe this decision will greatly improve access for our community. As NENA: The 9-1-1 Association CEO Brian Fontes said, “This order not only provides a balanced and sensible framework for 9-1-1 authorities and OSPs to move forward together to deploy NG9-1-1 nationwide, but also improves 9-1-1 service for everyone, especially those who depend on inclusive services, like deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.” A big thank you to NENA: The 9-1-1 Association, National Association of State 911 Administrators (NASNA), and many others for their work in making this possible! accesSOS discusses the emerging trends of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its integration with 911 services at the national NENA: The 9-1-1 Association 2024 conference. This integration is revolutionizing triage and routing, and has the potential for faster and more efficient emergency assistance for vulnerable communities. accesSOS champions the need for emerging technologies to be accessible and inclusive, so that no one in our community is left behind. Full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/ggdBCDsF Invest in the future of emergency response that saves lives and transform public safety. 🚑💡👩🚒👨⚕️accesSOS is the only tech nonprofit that makes emergency services accessible. Founded by Gabriella Wong, whose passion to solve accessibility issues in 911 services began when her deaf father texted her to call 911 in an emergency and she wasn't available at the time. He had to drive himself to the emergency room with severe gallbladder pain and nearly died due to this inequity. 🚀 We're Hiring! accesSOS is looking for a Team Lead Full Stack Engineer in the Bay Area, California. If you're passionate about leading a team with a mission to make emergency services accessible nationwide, we want to hear from you! 👉 Apply now: https://lnkd.in/gG82xdNh #BayArea #SanFrancisco #FullStackEngineer #TechForGood #Hybrid accesSOS is a startup tech nonprofit on a mission to save lives by making emergency help accessible for all. The Problem: For any emergency, 911 is our go to phone call, except for the 37 million Americans who cannot hear or speak out loud for help. Unfortunately, about half of 911 call centers do not support text-to-911, and updating all systems to the next generation that accepts text messages could take 5-10 years and $15 billion. Even in areas with text-to-911, pinpointing a texter's location is slow and can be dangerous. accesSOS Solution: That's where accesSOS comes in. It's a free mobile app that translates texts into 911 calls, instantly shares emergency location and streamlines information to 911. This innovative app is available in multiple languages, making it more inclusive. It not only saves precious time for 911 operators but also provides an accessible, icon-based system that has been a true lifesaver for vulnerable populations. We simultaneously uses our innovation as a platform to build awareness and advocate for the national adoption of text-to-911.
