This summer, Ad Hoc donated 30 laptops to Ukrainian refugee children living in Wiśniew, Poland as part of a charity program to help children and families connect with other refugees. Many refugees and families in this area have no access or limited access to computers, and we hope these laptops can provide a way for children to continue their studies in their native language and potentially an avenue to better-paying remote jobs for adults. Thank you to Global Volunteers and Adam Robinson and family for putting these laptops to good use and helping ensure the recipients were set up for success. Read more about the summer camp where the kids received their laptops in our latest blog post. https://lnkd.in/gFbydvAW

Introducing the US Mobile Design System (USMDS) In our work supporting the development of mobile apps for government services, we identified a critical gap: a design system tailored specifically for native mobile. To bridge this gap, we've created the USMDS, an open-source community project adapted from the US Web Design System and hosted in Figma’s Design Community. This project establishes standards for applying government design principles to native apps, and we’re excited to see how it evolves with your input. Learn more about the USMDS in our latest blog post, then join us on Figma to continue the conversation and help shape the future of government design for native mobile.  https://lnkd.in/gck6VNmV #mobile #govtech #designsystems

Our team is excited and honored to have been selected to join the Policy2Code Prototyping Challenge and explore how AI can translate public benefits program policies into plain language explanations and software code. From our experience supporting complex, highly regulated services like those at CMS and VA, we understand how hard it can be for agencies to turn these complicated policies into easy-to-use digital experiences. Mistakes in the process can affect both the agency and those that need public services, so our prototype looks at how generative AI can help transform complex policy documents into clear, easy-to-read language and clean, well-documented code. Our prototype tests how well a simple domain specific language (DSL) might help guide AI to create clear descriptions, working code, and accurate tests. We hope that this approach will better ensure that program experts are the authoritative source of program information, which others can use to turn program rules into working software code or plain language descriptions.
