Building a thriving screen industry starts with production infrastructure—essential for everything from filming to post-production. The ‘Best Practice in Screen Sector Development’ report by Olsberg•SPI and AFCI highlights the importance of investing in soundstages, post-production facilities, and transport services to drive long-term growth. In the chapter "Best Practice in Production Infrastructure," the report outlines key areas for investment: - Soundstages and Studio Facilities: High-quality soundstages require significant investment, but lower-cost options like converted warehouses can quickly meet production needs. - Post-Production Facilities: Crucial for editing, sound design, and visual effects. - Equipment Rentals and Transport: Access to specialized gear ensures smoother production operations. This chapter includes case studies like The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, UK, and Screen Queensland Studios in Australia, showing how public and private collaboration can transform disused spaces into production hubs. Governments and film commissions can stimulate private investment by offering incentives, planning support, and identifying pop-up studio sites. Proportional infrastructure investment is key to supporting a region’s production demand. For any region looking to scale its screen sector, this report is an essential guide to best practices in infrastructure development. 👉 Read the full report now: https://lnkd.in/dHGiuFBg #AFCI #ScreenSector #FilmIndustry #Infrastructure #FilmStudios

Social Entrepreneur - I build deals to help find, celebrate, and empower the next generation of creators
I'm thrilled to share that thanks to the generous involvement, efforts, and support of our team and Canon Australia, University of Technology Sydney, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Blackmagic Design, AFCI | Association of Film Commissioners International, Adobe, Lemac Film and Digital, the inaugural Australia Youth Film Festival Presented By UTS was recently brought to life in Sydney, Australia. This is a social impact-driven enterprise that follows in the footsteps of the sibling New Zealand Youth Film Festival Presented by The New Zealand Herald across the Tasman - a venture I launched with generous accelerator funding and support from The King's Trust, along with sponsorship from both government and commercial partners. The Festival was formed 3 years ago while I was a business management and media student, exploring my interests in business development, fundraising, and social impact. Our mission is to create mutually beneficial outcomes that help find, celebrate, and empower the next movie makers and stars. This year, we received over 700 entries from nearly every Australian state and territory. Our program included thousands of dollars worth of awards and events, including an Industry Day and an Award Ceremony. We were fortunate enough to have the support and involvement of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Canon Australia, Blackmagic Design, and experts such as Ken C. from Screen Australia, Gina Black from the City of Gold Coast, Jessica Nipperess from Blackmagic Design and Ross Turley and Thomas Pennell from Canon Australia. A huge congratulations as well to all our participants from across the country! I am deeply inspired by the passion, talent, and determination of youth. Their energy continues to fuel my aspirations to develop new pathways and opportunities within the sector. A special thank you to Katie Hinsen, Matthew Horrocks, Elliott Blade, Eric Ngan, Chantelle Banbury, Jane King, Jason Nockels, Dr Jonathan Messer, Joel Hutchinson, Jzayla Hughey, Amy Zhong, Aiden Lee, Tom Williams, Carolina Simpson, Terry Frechette, James Lew, Marcus Eckermann, Steven Tanoni, Lyndal Irons, Zoltan Blazer, Aaron Clarke, Jaclyn Philpott, Victória Simões, Harrison Keefe, James Fink-Jensen, Keven Souza, Olivia Brinkmann, Keilana Cavalevu, Prashanth Gunasekaran, Maria Luisa Alvarez, friends in both Australia and New Zealand, as well as everyone else who helped bring this to life - this couldn't have been done without you. www.auyff.com.au
