Thank you to everyone who supported our Second Annual Power of Pets fundraiser at BareWolf Brewing– our incredible hosts! We’d also like to give a shout out to Adam McCauley for leading our Power of Pets bingo game, and congratulate our raffle winners, who took home beautiful and generously donated gift baskets! The proceeds of this event will help older adults, aged 65 and above, with the cost of routine pet care, pet food, and fostering when necessary for those needing a medical procedure and have no one to care for their pet. If you couldn't join us and would like to support Power of Pets, follow the link below to make your donation today. https://ow.ly/28Er50TBjww Thank you again, and we hope to see everyone, and a few more, too, again next year! 🐾 #PowerofPets #AgeSpan #HealthyAging #Amesbury #ThankYou

Our Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) program aims to combat social isolation and loneliness by regularly organizing events at different housing sites. Last week, in honor of "Good Neighbor’s Day," Ellie Zwart, an AgeSpan RSC, hosted a year-end cookout at the Heritage House in Newburyport. More than 40 residents attended and enjoyed live music, an on-site ice cream truck, a pop-up farmer's market from Nourishing from the North Shore, and delicious burgers, hot dogs, and pasta salad. Here's to a great day! #AgeSpan #GoodNeighborsDay #Newburyport #HertiageHouse #endlonelinessma #GND2024

We are thrilled to announce that our Power of Pets program, which provides financial assistance to those 65 and older to help cover veterinary expenses, was awarded one of eight $10,000 grants from UnitedHealthcare at yesterday’s UHC EXPO 2024. Since we started the program, we've assisted over 400 community members and their pets across the 28 communities we serve in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore with veterinarian care, including annual exams, vaccinations, medications, dental care, sick care, and other necessary services. This grant will be instrumental in allowing us to continue the program and help older adults care for their pets. We sincerely thank everyone who made this possible, and all who came out to support the event. Interested in attending our upcoming Power of Pets fundraiser? September is National Senior Center Awareness Month, which highlights the important role that senior centers and Councils on Aging play in contributing to the well-being of older adults. To keep our centers growing in the right direction, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) developed the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC), which is committed to supporting and strengthening the nation’s 11,000 senior centers through best practices, professional development, advocacy, research, and national standards for senior centers.
