A fascinating new report by Traficom explores the business potential of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Finland! We're thrilled that our project's work is featured as part of the background material. #UrbanAirMobility #UAM #drones #drone
Finnish Transport and Communication Agency Traficom published a report on Urban Air Mobility (UAM) as a business. The report estimates that the demand for urban air space and traffic management will increase in the next 5-10 years. However, this is highly dependent on how commercially viable the use cases are and how willing and capable USSP service providers enter the Finnish market. For now, the report recommends several actions, which are all activities we're already undertaking in our project: 🔹Outlining potential UAM use cases 🔹Utilizing existing airspace solutions 🔹Testing different UAM services 🔹Facilitating research and development The report mentions CITYAM – Preparing cities for sustainable Urban Air Mobility project as part of its background material. 💡 Our Results in Brief article has now been published on the CORDIS website in six languages! Read more below. "The AiRMOUR project focused on emergency and medical services delivered by drone, a likely trailblazer in emerging UAM services. To begin with, likely UAM EMS scenarios, such as rescue services, were identified. These were then validated through live flights. Key issues assessed during these tests included potential air and ground risks and cyber security, as well as citizen acceptance, and the legal framework needed to ensure responsible operations. Business models and carbon dioxide life-cycle analyses were also carried out, to assess the sustainability of the concept. From the information gathered during these trials, the project team developed a UAM training curriculum, complete with online courses and masterclasses. These courses were designed to provide stakeholders – such as emergency services and logistics operators – with insights into the use of medical drones in urban areas. A project Guidebook has also been made available in seven different languages. This covers everything from use cases and the scalability of operations, through to public perceptions. – The wide uptake of our recommendations – whether at the city level or EU authority level – is a clear indicator of the real-life impact and success of the project, remarks Petri Mononen. – I am extremely happy to see that AiRMOUR has already contributed to the emergence of several new related research initiatives in the partnering Member States and beyond. This is a success in itself." #urbanairmobility #uam #smartmobility #smartcity #drones #ems #emergencymedicalservices #CORDIS #EUresearchresults

✳ Forum Virium Helsinki's and AiRMOUR's Communications Specialist Paula Kultanen Ribas talked to the Unit Manager of the City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division and Project Manager of the Helsinki U-Space project Christina Suomi, who told her about the cooperation with the Helsingin kaupunkiympäristö - Helsingfors stadsmiljösektorn - Helsinki Urban Environment Division and AiRMOUR & Renske Martijnse - Hartikka. ✳ “The coming of #UrbanAirMobility manifests a new digital era,” Christina Suomi ponders and adds: “Unmanned and automated aerial vehicles are as revolutionising as the first flight of the Wright brothers, or the world moving from propeller aircraft to jet engines at the end of the Second World War.” Read the whole article here: #smartmobility #urbanplanning #cityplanning #uam #drones #autonomousmobility #smartcity

Glad to continue spreading VTT and AiRMOUR advances in Innovative Air Mobility here at 6th International Ecological and Electric Aviation Conference. Pictured is one of my fellow speakers presenting right now, Dr. Karem Mokkadem from Airbus, describing their electrification roadmap. The house seems full, including other presenters from Finnair, Neste, and many others, plus an on-line audience. Also present are my close VTT colleagues Timo Lind, Jukka Hemilä and Markku Kivinen.

🔸 Cities need to start integrating air mobility in their urban planning processes. To manage this, they needed good information, more knowledge and better tools. AiRMOUR drastically advanced the understanding of necessary near-future actions – not only by urban communities, but also by operators, regulators, academia and businesses in order to build a more sustainable future in the lower aispace of our cities. 🔸 The EU-funded AiRMOUR project focused on researching and validating novel concepts for one of the most critical and fast-rising real-life applications of #UrbanAirMobility (#UAM): #EmergencyMedicalServices. Within the AiRMOUR project, air vehicles used for urgent medical purposes were validated in real-life demonstrations in Stavanger (Norway), Helsinki (Finland) and in Kassel, in the region of Nord-Hessen (Germany).
