Individuals start insurance agencies for various reasons, but many agency owners of color are particularly driven by the desire to empower and educate the communities they serve. The Black Friday Network was intentional about including "people" as one of its four key pillars, alongside "pipeline," "preparation," and "perpetuation." Our focus on #people is about reinvesting in our communities to contribute to economic empowerment and upliftment, and about creating awareness and promoting insurance in our communities as a tool for asset protection and wealth generation. For Black-owned insurance agencies, #empowering the community can involve supporting local businesses, providing scholarships, or funding community programs, all of which help to create a more robust and self-sufficient community. By #educating the community, we can improve financial literacy and provide access to quality insurance products, addressing economic and social disparities.
