The AKP Sports Foundation, the nation’s fastest-growing Asian American sports nonprofit is proud to host 2024 KAST Midwest (Korean American Soccer Tournament) which will take place this weekend in Chicago, bringing together over 400 Korean American students and young adults from universities across the Midwest. Participating schools include Northwestern University, University of Wisconsin, University of Michigan, Calvin University, Ohio State University and more- continuing the tradition of KAST being the largest Korean American soccer tournament in the United States. The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 19th, with teams competing at Techny Prairie Fields in Northbrook, IL. This exciting event showcases the talents of Korean American students while fostering unity and community engagement. KAST Midwest has been made possible through the generous support of the Council of Korean Americans and the collaboration of various student associations, including Northwestern KASA (Korean American Student Association), the host university for this year's event. Along with the highly anticipated soccer matches, the students will participate in AKP Cares, the service component of the tournament through a two part event with The Salvation Army. First, on Friday, October 18th, Northwestern students will lead a service day, providing support to those in need at The Salvation Army Evanston Corps. On Saturday, October 19th during the tournament, participants will dedicate a portion of their time to write personal notes and cards of encouragement for individuals and families supported by The Salvation Army and also make blankets that will serve those in need during the winter months. Jaeseok Choi, Vice President of AKP Sports Foundation, expressed his excitement: "We are thrilled to bring KAST Midwest to Chicago once again this year. This tournament not only celebrates the athleticism and passion of Korean American students but also gives them an opportunity to give back to the community through AKP Cares. Our partnership with The Salvation Army allows us to make a meaningful impact beyond the field, and we are grateful for the support of the Council of Korean Americans and all the universities involved." This weekend promises not only thrilling soccer matches but also a powerful demonstration of community service and compassion. For more information on the KAST Midwest and how to get involved, please visit www.akpsports.org or contact contact@akpsports.org.
