Nanoplasmid is the next-generation plasmid vector designed for cell and gene therapy applications. Benefits include improved transfection efficiencies, reduced post-transfection toxicity, superior transgene expression, and reduced silencing through its small backbone design (<500bp). As we kick off #SickleCell Awareness month, we recognize the approximately 100,000 individuals in the U.S. living with this chronic condition. Sickle cell disease causes severe and unpredictable pain, intense fatigue, frequent infections and more. Last September, Tom Foti Vice President/GM of Aldevron’s Protein Business Unit, spoke with James Griffin, a sickle cell patient and author of the book Breaking Silence: Living With Sickle Cell Anemia. You can read more about James and his experience with sickle cell in our blog post: https://ald.bio/3yZGNck. Just months after this conversation, the FDA made a groundbreaking decision to approve two #genetherapy treatments for sickle cell disease. While the future of sickle cell disease treatment is promising, we still have a long way to go to make these therapies accessible to all who need them. This month (and beyond!), let’s recognize the strength of these patients and emphasize the importance of helping them access innovative, life-changing treatments. #SickleCellAwareness #AdvancingEveryDay

At Aldevron, the safety and well-being of our team are top priorities. During Safe + Sound Week earlier this month, we put our employees’ safety knowledge and commitment to the test! Paramedics and nurses presented to us on how to stop the bleed (lots of parents attended that class!), experts showed us how to be comfortable at our work stations with Ergonomics 101 for the Office Worker, and we completed a training on de-escalation techniques and pre-attack indicators. Our teams also competed in a scavenger hunt and associates completed chemical quizzes, which were developed by the Aldevron Safety Team and Committee. Hosting events during Safe + Sound Week, which is celebrated nationwide to recognize workplace health and safety programs, is another way Aldevron is able to lead as an innovator and ensure we are #advancingeveryday for our patients. We are committed to keeping health and safety at the forefront of everything we do for our teams and clients. #HealthAndSafety #SafeandSoundWeek #Hiring

Anyone hungry for dessert? 🥧 This week, our managers in the Madison office got a whole pie – in their faces! At our “Pie Your Manager” event, applause and laughs echoed throughout Aldevron as we raised money for the Badger Challenge, an annual cycling, running and walking event that raises funds for vital cancer research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center Cancer Center. It is our third year sponsoring the challenge, and it is always a fun reminder of our purpose to help find cures for cancer and other #rarediseases. We’re happy to share that through this event, we surpassed our $15,000 fundraising goal! We're also raising funds for the Badger Challenge through various activities like hosting bake sales and live auctions, and we look forward to participating in the race. Read more about our event, which was featured in WKOW-ABC 27 News here: https://ald.bio/3XkawWJ #CancerResearch #MadisonWI #BadgerChallenge #UW

Today, we are excited to announce our renewed commitment to Aldevron Advocacy and the launch of a new program focused on “New Frontiers in Cellular Immunotherapies.”    As our President Jennifer Meade stated, “Advocacy is about speaking up and acting on behalf of those we seek to support, to ensure their perspectives and challenges are heard, understood, and acted upon.” To achieve these objectives, we are investing additional resources and developing a strategic approach for prioritizing advocacy through this program.     As we are inspired by patient stories each day, we look forward to working closely with the Emily Whitehead Foundation, an organization that supports research and clinical trials for childhood cancer treatments, especially #CAR T-cell therapy.     Stay tuned for more ways our team is getting involved and driving forward our advocacy, including attending Emily Whitehead Foundation’s Believe Ball this September!

    President, Aldevron

At Aldevron, advocacy is at the center of everything we do. I’m excited to share that we’ve made a renewed commitment to Aldevron Advocacy and are launching a new program with an initial focus on “New Frontiers in Cellular Immunotherapies.”     By investing additional resources and developing a focused, strategic direction for advocacy, we’re enhancing our mission of #advancingeveryday and seeking new ways to impact our clients and the patients we serve. I’m especially looking forward to collaborating further with the Emily Whitehead Foundation, an organization that inspires me every day and celebrates the transformative power of innovative therapies.    We have a variety of exciting programming on the horizon, offering our team members the opportunity to support and make a difference. Read more in my latest blog post on how we are working every day to create meaningful change: https://lnkd.in/e4d2C9RA. More to come from our team soon!
