DeAngelo Williams recently returned to Pittsburgh with his family and The DeAngelo Williams Foundation to cover the cost of 53 mammograms at AHN. This gift is in honor of his mother and four aunts, who all died from breast cancer by age 53. Dr. Ronald and Debra Cypher and the AHN Women’s Institute have both matched this very generous donation, for a total of 159 free mammograms for people in our community!

We're proud to announce a partnership with City of Pittsburgh EMS to launch a groundbreaking resuscitation program that is dramatically improving survival rates for patients experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This innovative approach, called extracorporeal CPR (ECPR), utilizes an ECMO machine to supplement traditional resuscitation methods, giving patients a significantly higher chance of survival. In the past 12 months, Allegheny General Hospital has administered ECPR to seven patients, with a remarkable 43% survival rate to discharge, compared to the national average of just 10% for standard resuscitation alone. Congratulations!
Today I am grateful and thankful for the opportunity to have officially completed my oath of commissioning into the U.S. Navy Reserve. I was joined by my family, friends, and several of my peers at AHN Wexford Hospital during my commissioning ceremony to welcome me into my new role in my military career. I am beyond thankful to everyone that has helped me throughout this entire process and am really appreciative to everyone at AHN Wexford Hospital that made this day such a special one for my family and I. Also I wanted to give a big thank you to my previous commander, and fellow Allegheny Health Network employee CPT Audrey Hayward for presenting my oath today. I look forward to continuing to serve my community with the Allegheny Health Network, while continuing to also serve my country with the United States Navy Reserve.
