April and I had the pleasure of participating in the Portland Business Journal DEI roundtable to discuss not only our approach to this work, but the importance of investing in the development of competency for your leaders and teams to navigate difference. These skills aren't political, and they don't have to be polarizing - as leaders and teams need the necessary skills to navigate a changing world filled with difference. And the good news is - diverse and inclusive teams - still outperform their competitors!

However, these situations often reveal the diversity of thought within your organization (a win!). Consider it healthy when both parties can disagree in a safe way, as it provides unique perspectives. • 🎯 Reflecting on last week's virtual event, "Unlock The Type A Trap," featuring Erin Stafford, was truly enlightening. We delved into productivity, self-care, and the pursuit of balance in our fast-paced lives. Here are some key insights to remember: ✅ Prioritizing our well-being is paramount when making decisions. Whether facing major life decisions or daily choices, focusing on our health today sets the stage for success tomorrow. A great reminder we all need. ✅ Ever felt overwhelmed by your packed schedule? Erin introduced us to the "Coco Chanel" take-off method, referring to streamline our agendas by removing one task at a time (whether daily, weekly, or otherwise) – much like refining a great outfit. ✅ Laughter has a powerful effect on our well-being. Those everyday jokes we share? They're like windows into our inner thoughts and feelings. For instance, if we constantly joke sarcastically about our jobs or relationships, it might signal deeper emotions we need to explore. It's a reminder to pay attention to the messages our humor sends about our true feelings. ✅ Celebrating victories, big and small, is crucial. From conquering daunting projects to mastering daily routines, It’s important to compile our own 'victory lap' lists, as a way of combating overwhelm with gratitude. 🎉 A big thank you to Erin for sharing her wisdom and encouragement. Your guidance is truly invaluable! And to all who joined us, thank you and let's continue prioritizing balance in our daily lives, one step at a time! 🗓️ Missed this event?
