📢📢New Update on Putting Social Science to Work!💡💪 Last year Stanford Impact Labs invested in Al Roth and Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation to adapt a proven life-saving innovation (Kidney Exchange) to Brazil and India as models for their respective regions. Al Roth won a Nobel prize, in part, for his insights around matching donors so that more people can receive life-saving kidney transplants. Yet today, more than 100,000 people globally are stuck on waiting lists--and many of them will die while still waiting. Hear an exciting update from Al Roth about conducting the very first three-way kidney exchange in Brazil: https://lnkd.in/gRKE_c88 And watch in--the patient's own words--how otherwise incompatible pairs are matched to make life-saving transplants happen: https://lnkd.in/gHuah3gz Kudos to Dr. Gustavo Fernandes Ferreira (President of Brazil's National Transplant Organization) who conducted the operation, Dr. Michael A. Rees, MD, PhD, Al Roth and the incredible Brazilian team who came together to make this happen!
