🚨 Congressional investigators found that the three largest MA insurers increasingly use prior authorization practices to deny care for seniors. Earlier this year, we outlined three principles Congress should consider when it comes to AI oversight: Protect patients, not programs; use common, clear language; and build public-private partnerships.

Large insurers & nonprofit community health plans have different objectives. As Ceci Connolly notes, "It would be foolish to think you should develop policies that apply exactly the same to the two very different entities [and] very different missions." https://lnkd.in/ePQDrfmg

"Advocacy is hard," says our friend Michael Manganiello of his inspiring years-long dedication to building awareness and political will to increasing #healthcare access and equity, particularly for those living with a disability. The recent release of "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" illustrates that while advocating for what's right might be hard, it is always the right thing to do.
At Pyxis Partners, we remain steadfast in our commitment to enhancing #healthequity, access, and affordability and our mission to advance policies and programs that result in positive change and improved health outcomes for everyone in the United States. Together, we can continue to drive forward the critical #research and #advocacy needed to achieve health equity for all, through efforts such as those examined in Back to Basics: HIV/AIDS Advocacy As A Model For Catalyzing Change, authored by Pyxis Partners CEO Michael Manganiello, Principal Ronnie Tepp, and others (https://lnkd.in/eTiJcFPx). We dedicate this work to Christopher Reeve, our “Superman”, and to the millions of Americans who suffer and have suffered from conditions, diseases, and illnesses that we hope will one day be curable. The upcoming documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story”, which debuts later this month, underscores the enduring importance of health research to the Reeve family’s inspiring legacy, and we are #PyxisProud to help carry on the important work that Christopher, Dana, and Michael accomplished to pave the way for community advocates to dedicate their lives to making impactful, long-lasting change in the health equity and research space.

How can #MedicareAdvantage be reformed to be more equitable and affordable for future generations?

Current capitation rates create an ‘existential threat’ to quality care and coverage. It’s puzzling why states are refusing to update payment rates to account for a sicker population and adequately care for their most vulnerable citizens notes ACHP’s Ceci Connolly. https://lnkd.in/eYm-MrTj
