ICYMI: Want to learn more about work-based learning? Start here! 💡 Last week we launched our new Education in Action (EiA) Spotlights, which highlight how states are expanding opportunities for incarcerated students to apply their education through employment. For example, our Maine Spotlight showcases some structured policies developed by the Department of Corrections that other states can use as templates, including: ✔️ A remote work or work-based learning policy: https://bit.ly/4bHWbcq ✔️ An agreement for computer and internet use to ensure security and compliance: https://bit.ly/3FxOLw7 📄 Explore these policies and learn more: https://bit.ly/4bHe6A0

💡New Education in Action Spotlights💡 In our Education in Action (EiA) Spotlights, we share a bit more about how different states are enacting work-based learning initiatives. These opportunities enable incarcerated students to apply knowledge and skills gained through education in remote employment. Over the past few years, the Alliance has been at the forefront of EiA initiatives across the country in multiple states, and we want to share our takeaways with the field! Up first are Kansas and Maine! In these Spotlights, you'll learn more about each state in these contexts, including action steps for other states looking to adopt these unique approaches. 🔗 Learn more about what's happening in Kansas and Maine: https://bit.ly/3FrZ9Wn #HigherEdInPrison #AHEP #TheAlliance #EducationInAction #WorkBasedLearning

Go Hancy Maxis, MHA, go!! Go Alyssa Knight, go!! Love to see our community across the Consortium for the Liberal Arts in Prison represented. A reminder that mathematics and the natural sciences are, indeed, part of the liberal arts-- something I find myself reminding policymakers and funders of often. https://lnkd.in/ghamM_Zx

What an exciting development to find as I was doing my AM scan of journals, and came across an article published in Nature, quite possibly the most prestigious, ground-breaking research journal on earth to find that yesterday, they published an article shining light on what it is like teaching neuroscience in a maximum security prison. The article emphasizes how warm and laser-focused the learners are. This is exceptional. 👏👏 Alliance for Higher Education in Prison JSTOR Access in Prison #supportsecondchances #returnedcitizens #reentry #recoverylookslike
