Gas technician Jim Baker coaches youth sports to spend as much time as he can with his kids. But it goes much deeper than that. “It’s about how they feel more than what they’re accomplishing,” he says. “At these ages, kids won’t remember the wins and losses, but they will remember the relationships and fun times. That is what will keep them enjoying sports as they grow up.” Jim is one of our 2024 Values in Practice Award winners. Each year, we recognize employees for their volunteer work around the community with a $500 donation to the nonprofit of their choice. https://bit.ly/4e3Wyyx

We’re grateful for those who keep our communities safe. Together with ITC Midwest, we helped fund a new blitz monitor for the Marshalltown Fire Department. This piece of equipment is especially helpful during major fire incidents. We're happy to be able to support their vital work.

Alliant Energy is proud to sponsor the Wisconsin Economic Development Association’s (WEDA) Community Economic Development Awards Luncheon. This year during the Fall Best Practices Conference in Eau Claire, Coleman Peiffer, our senior manager of economic and community development and WEDA board member, recognized two member communities with a Community Economic Development award. Congratulations to the Real Estate Redevelopment Reuse Award recipients: Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Brooke Street Lofts, and the city of West Bend’s project, the District West Bend. (https://bit.ly/4gI6hfv, https://bit.ly/47TjqxZ) Our team also discussed the fundamentals of economic development and did a deep dive into issues like business expansion and retention with economic development partners throughout the state. It’s one more way we are helping to build stronger communities. #poweringtomorrow #economicdevelopment.

Nearly 150 Alliant Energy employees traveled to Virginia over the weekend to assist American Electric Power - AEP – Appalachian Power with community power restoration following Hurricane Helene. This voluntary partnership we have with other energy providers is a cornerstone of the industry. During major events, these partnerships enable energy companies to increase the size of their workforce and safely restore power to the affected communities. Our employees wanted to give a shout-out to the Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar in Galen, VA, for opening up just for our crews so they could get lunch.

Alliant Energy recently took part in the Professional Developers of Iowa fall conference, “Redefining Your Community Narrative,” in Marshalltown. Along with ITC Holdings Corp., we were honored to sponsor site selection expert Philip Schneider as the conference keynote speaker. We thank Phil for providing location strategy insights on how to make an industrial site stand out and attract valuable investments. During the conference, our economic development team discussed two critical topics with our economic development and city partners, Beyond the Disaster: Effective Recovery Tactics for Stronger Communities, and How to Respond to Site Visits. We thank Marshalltown community members who shared their experience working with Alliant Energy and ITC Midwest and the critical intersection of disaster recovery and economic development after the 2019 tornado that hit the community. We also thank the Ames Economic Development Commission, Grow Clinton and the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce. They joined our team to discuss the art of responding to site visits and showcasing a community’s potential for economic growth.  #poweringtomorrow #economicdevelopment

One of the most basic necessities is a good night’s sleep- and @SleepInHeavenlyPeace is working to make sure “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town!” As a popular nonprofit among Alliant Energy volunteers, Manager of Customer Operations Brad Weber says “Once you go and participate in one bed build and find out the good SHP does, that’s the hook that keeps you involved.” https://bit.ly/45bPzj8
