🔬 We’ve recently written about how #lasers ensure precision in life sciences, particularly #spectroscopy, a technique for analyzing substances by studying how they interact with light. It’s used in areas, such as drug discovery, medical treatment, and food safety.   📈 The global spectroscopy market is forecasted to reach approximately USD 31.16 billion by 2032 with a growing CAGR of 7.3%, driven by increased utilization for testing purposes and rising demand for advanced technology in laboratories. At Altechna, we contribute to the accuracy and reliability of spectroscopic research by offering various filters.   🔷 Longpass filters are ideal for applications requiring the isolation of specific spectral bands for detailed analysis, such as environmental monitoring of pollutants or studying cellular structures and processes. 🔷 Shortpass filters enable researchers to selectively filter out unwanted longer wavelengths and focus on the desired spectral range and are crucial in applications such as fluorescence microscopy, a technique widely used in medical research and diagnosis. 🔷 Bandpass filters are perfect for studies requiring transmission within a specific band of wavelengths. Their effectiveness contributes to developments in fields, such as cell biology, molecular diagnostics, and drug discovery. #lifesciences #lasers #laserapplications

🔖 The Verge has labeled this April the start of a new technological era due to the multiple launches of #AI #wearables, a new generation of gadgets. 💡 How are #lasers related to them? “AI is in the driver's seat now to create new applications and devices that we haven’t even thought about before. By combining photonics, AI, and semiconductor technology, the world will witness many revolutionizing consumer products, some of which will change our lifestyle completely,” said Antanas Laurutis, CEO of Altechna. 💡But what groundbreaking products can we discern today? 💎 AI PIN Last year, Humane Inc.’s #AiPin was unveiled as the first wearable device and software platform utilizing the full power of ChatGPT and lasers and is set to reach consumers this April. Ai Pin boasts a screenless user interface that is integrated into daily routines, allowing users to interact with AI through natural speech, gestures, an intuitive touchpad, or the groundbreaking Laser Ink Display projected onto the palm. It’s been recently announced that it will also connect with Google Photos and Google Contacts to offer users integration with their existing digital ecosystem. The use of laser communication in this way sets a new standard for intuitive and immersive user experiences. 💎 Augmented Reality (AR) Glasses Despite significant investments in display technology, many companies have encountered challenges in creating truly wearable #AR #glasses. MEMS-based laser beam scanning engines can provide a new solution to the current challenges faced by AR technology. They pave the way for creating sleek, lightweight, affordable, and powerful AR glasses for everyday consumers. This breakthrough is anticipated to improve how individuals engage with digital content, potentially influencing a wide range of industries and everyday activities. According to Fortune Business Insights™, AR Market is expected to grow significantly by at least 45.4% from 2024 to 2032. At Altechna, we also strive to push the boundaries of optical technology. Our dedication to research and development fuels our mission to create cutting-edge solutions that drive progress in industries ranging from consumer technology to scientific exploration.

🔅 The progression in #fusion #energy development, where lasers play a crucial role, reflects a global shift towards sustainable energy solutions to combat climate change and meet increasing global energy demands. 💰 Investments in nuclear fusion energy generation from private and public sectors are rapidly growing. Just at the beginning of this year, more than 35 private companies collectively raised over $2.4 billion, complemented by significant public funds committed by governments, bringing the total investment in nuclear fusion to over $6.2 billion. The rise in investments follows such key milestones as regulatory frameworks in the UK, EU recognition of fusion in carbon neutrality efforts, and collaborative ventures such as joint operations of JT-60SA by the EU and Japan. 🔷 When it comes to progress in generating fusion energy, the latest world record was announced just several days ago by scientists from the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy where a KSTAR device known as the “artificial sun” sustained temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius – seven times hotter than the sun’s core. 🔷 Last February, the collaboration between the Joint European Torus team and Eurofusion consortium members resulted in a groundbreaking achievement as the team at the facility near Oxford generated a record-breaking 69 MJ of fusion energy for 5 seconds. This is enough to power around 41,000 homes for 5 seconds. 🔷 US scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s National Ignition Facility achieved net energy gain in a nuclear fusion reaction with the aid of lasers twice – in 2022 and 2023, with the former being a historic breakthrough. These steps started paving the way for advancements in national defense and the future of clean power. 💭 “Continual scientific breakthroughs and rising investments in nuclear fusion demonstrate growing confidence in fusion technology which essentially promises almost limitless energy while mitigating climate risks. They also present unprecedented opportunities for the laser industry to innovate and thrive in the process of contributing to this immensely impactful transition,” explains Eduardas Gvozdas, CSO of Altechna. Altechna and Alpine Research Optics specialize in large optics designed specifically for high-powered lasers used in nuclear fusion reactors. As the fusion energy sector gains traction, we witness a growing need for precise optics that can withstand the harsh conditions within these reactors. 💡 Our goal is to continue innovating and developing cutting-edge optics solutions that meet the demands of the evolving fusion energy sector. #nuclearfusion #laserindustry #businessgrowth #photonics #sustainability

🔬 In life sciences, precision is key. Lasers play a vital role in ensuring this precision, driving efficiency, accuracy, and innovation across various scientific areas. One of the most recent and crucial uses of laser technology is in #spectroscopy, particularly for the vital task of identifying counterfeit vaccines, a problem that persisted before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, an international team of researchers and specialists adapted the Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy (SORS) technique, usually used to screen for hazardous substances at airports, to rapidly authenticate COVID-19 vaccines through unopened vaccine vials. 🔬 This technique helps to maintain the trust and reliability of vaccine distribution, this way contributing to overall economic stability. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that various factors will increase the risk of new diseases, and new or known diseases turning into pandemics. This spectroscopic method will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of future #vaccine supply chains when new pandemics strike. 📈 Following continuous innovation and evolving public health issues, we predict a growing demand for advanced spectroscopic solutions in the #healthcare, #biotechnology, and #pharmaceutical sectors. At Altechna, we’re proud to contribute to the progress of spectroscopy, cytometry, and microscopy in life sciences by offering various optical filters. These filters provide a cost-effective solution for enhancing effectiveness, efficiency, and precision. #cytometry #microscopy #lasertechnology #laserapplications #lifesciences
