Cast your vote for clean energy and innovation! Ameresco's Hampden Landfill Solar Project has been nominated as Project of the Year by Solar Builder Magazine. Use the link below to vote for our project that was recognized as a technical achievement by combining solar with a battery energy storage system (BESS) on a capped landfill that was previously unsuited for any development purpose. The project also highlights environmental stewardship by protecting over 14 acres of habitat for the state-listed Eastern Box Turtle and Wood Turtle. Our team implemented a species protection plan during construction to ensure the preservation of these turtles’ feeding, sheltering, and breeding environments, safeguarding local biodiversity. Together with Republic Services, we’ve opened California’s largest landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) plant at Keller Canyon. This innovative project will turn landfill gas into clean energy delivered to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, reducing 62,000 metric tons of carbon emissions each year — equivalent to removing 30,000 cars from the road. It’s a major step forward for sustainability and renewable energy in California, and we’re excited to keep driving the future of clean energy forward. As a Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) member, Ameresco is committed to building relationships with and delivering projects for Indigenous communities and businesses to ensure an equitable and sustainable economy across Canada. #truthandreconcilationday
On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we encourage you to consider accountability. Ideologies, goals, governments and businesses collapse without it. Conversation is a great place to start. Please feel free take these questions to your teams and leadership or share your responses in the comments below. 1. If you are part of a board-governed corporation, do you have Indigenous representation on your board? If not, why not? Are there barriers or obstacles that are preventing it? If you do, what made those efforts successful and sustainable? 2. Is the organization you are part of intentional about Indigenous recruitment and retention? If yes, what policies and/or best practices do you have in place to make it a success? If not, what steps could you take to advance Indigenous recruitment and retention in your workplace? 3. Do you know what the Indigenous procurement policy is where you work and how it is reported and tracked? #truthandreconciliationday #truthandreconciliation
