American Board of Internal Medicine reposted this
The American Board of Internal Medicine offers the traditional 10-year MOC exam for recertification and a newer Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA), where questions are answered every quarter. Not sure which option is better for you? Drs. Petr Protiva and Maggie Ham compare their experiences and discuss pros and cons of both options in this article from GI & Hepatology News. https://ow.ly/QMGj50ThAO6

After a 40-year career in medicine, including nine years as Chief Medical Officer at the American Board of Internal Medicine, Richard G. Battaglia, MD, FACP, has announced his retirement. As he shared in a blog post, Dr. Battaglia was inspired to become a physician by his father, an immigrant who believed deeply in the American dream. 112 years after his father arrived at Ellis Island, Dr. Battaglia reflects on his family, career, and what’s next for him. ABIM will begin a national search for our next Chief Medical Officer this fall, and Dr. Battaglia has agreed to stay on board to help with his successor’s transition. We thank Dr. Battaglia for his service with ABIM, and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement: https://lnkd.in/eunNKQz5
Over a year ago, soon after Rich Baron announced his intention to retire as ABIM’s President and CEO, I let him know that I intended to follow in his footsteps to retire once his successor was named and onboard. And right after Furman S McDonald, MD, MPH was announced as the next President and CEO, I also let him know of my plan. Through it all, my prevailing desire has been to ensure the ongoing success of ABIM, the new President and CEO, and my successor. A heartfelt thank you to all who have taught, supported and encouraged me along the way. Additionally, I want to express deep gratitude to the many diplomates and professional society leaders and staff I’ve connected with over my tenure at ABIM – all of whom provided honest feedback and thoughtful insights about what we do well and what we can still improve. During the next number of months, I will be part of the team supporting Furman’s recruitment and selection of ABIM’s next Chief Medical Officer while continuing the current work I am engaged in until my successor is onboard. As for what’s next, I’ll be spending more time with my wife, my four sons and their families – and, of course, our two rescue dogs Rippin and Callie. Thanks for the opportunity to serve the profession. I can truly say I’ve loved my work. For those so inclined, here are some reflections I shared with the internal medicine community.
