The American Council of Trustees and Alumni is a Gold goDCgo Transportation All-Star! We are thrilled to be recognized as a Gold goDCgo Transportation All-Star, a testament to our sustainable transportation choices. This award was given to ACTA to highlight our dedication in supporting the District of Columbia's transportation goals. Here is what we are doing to increase sustainability and benefit our employees: 1. Hybrid Schedule: When possible, employees are given the choice to utilize a remote day to work from home. This helps promote work-life balance and reduces carbon emissions associated with daily commuting. 2. Flexibility: Recognizing the diverse commuting needs of our team, we have established core office hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while our office remains open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This flexibility enables employees to commute during off-peak hours, minimizing traffic congestion and supporting a smoother commute experience. 3. Commuter Benefits for Employees: To further promote sustainable commuting practices and alleviate the financial burden of transportation costs, we offer our commuting employees a pre-tax commuter benefit. This enables our team members to save up to 30% on transit expenses while actively encouraging the use of public transportation. At ACTA, we are committed to fostering a workplace culture that values sustainability and employee well-being.

About us
The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to academic freedom, excellence, and accountability at America’s colleges and universities. Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives a philosophically rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price.

The events of July 13 have shocked the nation. We are grateful to the many partner organizations and allies of the College Debates and Discourse Alliance that quickly released statements condemning the attempt on former President Trump's life and political violence in general. This heinous act, and its aftermath of divisive rhetoric on social media, reveals the dire state of our national discourse right now, and we must work together to change it. We are living through a historic moment and have a choice to make. We can either unite on a much-needed course correction that restores civil discourse and civic charity, or we can stay our current course and grow even more entrenched and divided. We are encouraged by those who have spoken out against toxic polarization and are working to combat it, and we stand ready to work with anyone and everyone to build bridges of understanding and restore healthy political discourse, especially in collaboration with the rising generation and future leaders of our country. Join us via Zoom on June 12 as we pilot A Braver Campus Dialogue -- a new College Debates & Discourse Alliance workshop experience. When: Wednesday, June 12th at 6 pm Eastern / 5 pm Central / 3 pm Pacific Register here: https://lnkd.in/efRp5_Rt The CD&D Alliance is excited to announce the development and launch of a new style of programming: A Braver Campus Dialogue (ABCD). Drawing inspiration from traditional Braver Angels debates and workshops, BridgeUSA conversations, and visionary collaboration with Braver Angels’ co-founder Bill Doherty, ABCD Workshops delve into the nuances of the most pressing social and political challenges of our day. They foster solution-oriented conversations, in which participants discover that differing viewpoints are not obstacles but essential components in addressing our most controversial issues. Guided by an experienced moderator, participants will navigate the intricate complexities of an issue, gain deeper understanding of its root causes, and explore potential solutions. A new "Higher Ed Now" podcast episode, and a short one at that. Monica is a virtuoso and her work affirms why we partner with Braver Angels in college spaces.
I had a short and electrifying conversation at Pacific Lutheran University with Monica Guzman, esteemed Braver Angels colleague, world-class author & speaker, and hard-working mom who needed to leave in 30 minutes to pick up her kids from school. It was worth turning into a podcast. #HigherEdNow #civildiscourse #depolarization #disagreebetter
